From ESPN.com:
"And that need for improvement also falls to the team's analytics department. Judge said players are getting the numbers, but he questioned if they were getting "the right numbers."
"I think it's just about how we use [analytics] and how we value them is an aspect that we just maybe need to look at again," Judge told reporters. "The Yankees are top-notch in the numbers we get. I think we're the best in the game at that. I think it's about funneling those down to the players in the right format.
"I wouldn't say [we are] overloaded. I think it's just looking at the right numbers. I think maybe we might be looking at the wrong ones. We need to value some other ones that people might see as having no value."
Recently, on "The Michael Kay Show," Kay remarked that the Yankees analytics department does not believe in hot or cold or clutch.

. Excellent communication once again on the part of the Yankees and Cashman. Casey is being honest in what he’s been told and Boone is in corporate mode. All about CYA. Why make people feel secure and wanted when you can make them feel uncomfortable. Does anyone have a spine in Pinstripes management?

Casey also said that he hasn't even discussed 2024 with his wife and kids yet. I'm sure he's financially set, so he doesn't have to come back.

Not a big fan of Boone but when you start a lineup of 3 players hitting less than .200 and a couple more less than .225 it's going to take a lot of hitting from Judge and Torres to win. I liked what I saw from Wells, Florial and the Martian but some of those other newbies didn't hit a lick. I have not given up on them but if they are kept on as starters they better hit some or we are going to have a repeat of this year. Perhaps the most challenging offseason we have had in a while. I'm ready for spring training.

If we knew Florial could hold the fort down until Dominguez returned, and if we knew that Dominguez would be fully up to speed and as capable as he looked this season… well, we don’t know either of those things… so we need to shop…

He sort of reminds me of Bernie, except he obviously can't hit like him. He could still fit into the Yankees plans that is if they feel he's worth a 40 man roster spot.

I have not given up on them but if they are kept on as starters they better hit some or we are going to have a repeat of this year. Perhaps the most challenging offseason we have had in a while. I'm ready for spring training. Just blew back in from the Great White North (take off) and catching up a bit here. Looking at the final Yankee stats for 2023, among players who had at least 100 PAs, the much-maligned Billy McKinney actually had the fifth-best OBP on this team. Judge led by a mile at .406, then Gleyber comfortably in second at .347. Not all that far ahead of McKinney were Rizzo at .328 and LeMahieu at .327, then McKinney at .320. That is less a compliment to McKinney than a depressing indication of just how awful this offense was. Likewise, among players with at least 100 PAs, the Yanks only had two players with an OPS+ above league-average 100 -- Judge at 175 and Gleyber at 118. Pathetically, McKinney at 98 ranked third. Even the Red Sox, putting out one of their worst lineups in recent memory, had seven players above 100. Now the sample sizes were for the most part very small, although not minuscule, but the prospects were mostly terrible in their late-season opportunities -- Pereira had an OBP of .151 and an OPS+ of 19 -- that's one-nine -- even the feckless Rortvedt finished at 28. Peraza was .267/49. Florial, in 71 PAs, was .324/76. Cabrera, in 330 PAs, was .275/58. A strong finish by Wells got him to .257/97. Even Volpe was .283/81. These numbers are, in general, worse than what journeymen McKinney, Willie Calhoun and Greg Allen put up. Only Jasson, in his quick cameo and even fewer PAs, had solid numbers. These guys may all turn out to be HOFers, but it could be a very steep learning curve.

Common sense from a guy who actually plays the game rears its ugly head. These idiot metrics kept Stanton batting in the middle of the order for most of the year because he had a high exit velo and nice launch angle. Therefore, according to the green eyeshade wonder kids, he was in fact having a solid season but the neanderthals who look only at the kind of statistics they had in the 1920s are just too backward to understand it.
