To a point I think it’s good that we don’t know the team strategy. That also means it’s unlikely any other GM has him figured out, too… I believe there to be a prudence to the man. Extend Gleyber? I don’t know yet. It doesn’t have to be addressed today… I wouldn't be surprised if they wait until later in the season (AS break?) to make a decision... If it was up to me re-signing Soto would be priority #1. Priority #2 would be to re-sign Torres. Doing so would give the Yankees 2 players in their lineup that are in their mid 20's. Rizzo's and Verdugo's money is likely to come off the Yankees books next off season. So with 2 established players like Soto and Torres along with Judge in their line the Yankees don't have to count on rookies like Peraza and The Martian to produce big stats right away.

I don't see it as either/or. Sign 'em both...Soto (26) Gleyber (28)...

The Mets always sign former Yankees. Granderson, Betances, Ottavino, Cano, Maybin, Drury, Frazier, D-Rob, Shreve, Locastro, and now Sevy and Bader just off the top of my head.

Kind of concerning Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk One positive, Snell wouldn't be facing Yankee hitters this time.

As you know, we've had this conversation several times. It's not either/or. I don't think 5-6 years @ $15M per is out-of-line for Gleyber. That shouldn't pose an obstacle to signing Soto, when you have "cheap" players like Volpe, Wells, Dominguez, etc. on the roster. Let's not make Gleyber the bad guy here.

MLB is in the grips of a tremendous inflation when it comes to individual players' salaries. Vis-a-vis Hal's pocketbook, Gleyber like Soto might very well be a one year or bust Yankee.
