I think it's going to be slow going for a few months and looks like Hal is rolling it back. I'm locked into NFL and NHL.

Yankees infielder trade is ‘on the table,’ report says
Would you trade Gleyber?
I wouldn't. He's our second best offensive player and you wouldn't be getting that much for him as he's a free agent after this year.

m Highly speculative article which could be more targeted to mention Torres value. I smell Boras as the “source”. Move him to 3B… Peraza to second… unless a trade brings in a solid 2B on a short term deal… I’ve been thinking about Torres low RBI production despite spending significant time batting in the middle of the line up last year. Was that his failure, or the failure of the general offense? After reviewing the numbers it appears that Torres is not so much to blame. He simply seldom had RBI opportunities. His stats were acceptable/similar enough to his “regular stats” at least within tolerance. The team around him simply stunk. Even Judge’s RBI count was low considering his HR count, though some of that can be attributed to him being walked (to get to Torres). One bizarre stat I noted about Torres was that in games where the Yankees were behind he tended to produce very little power. Probably just a numerical glitch. Also perhaps related to a pressure to perform semantic after intentional walks to Judge. While Gleyber hit well in high leverage situations he only got 105 AB in situations defined as such. That again, is likely a failure of the team. As in almost every season of his career, Gleyber once again exhibited a poor 1/2 and a strong 1/2 of the season. This time he flailed away more in the first half with a .252 BA, while hitting .302 in the second half. As for that defense that can be so annoying at times… Torres followed his career trend of being about average in range factor and having a fielding percentage about .010 below average. He looks very slick at times and at other times he look horrendous at 2B. His OOA was a sorry -3, 33rd in MLB among 2B. That means there were players who were not even their team’s primary 2B that were better. The position needs to be addressed. I’d move him to 3rd at this point… Maybe first if the need arises. He’s not improving as an infielder… We need more players that can hit, but we need them without selling out our defense! …

Torres at second is valuable due to his offense relative to other second basemen across the league.

Torres at second is valuable due to his offense relative to other second basemen across the league. And his lack of value issue to his lack of defensive skills… For several years it was becoming easier to hide poor defense at 2B due to the extreme shifts. A poor defensive 2B could even be made to appear better than he was by being positioned as such to appear to be stealing hits in the shallow outfield behind the 2B. We’re returning to more traditional defense now, defense where the 4 men up the middle are the most important on the field. Baseball Savant listed 42 qualified (by playing time) and Gleyber was ranked 33rd in OAA. It’s a sore spot. Hoe many DPs does he screw up? How many times do we overlook him trying to fancy up a play and wind up not getting the out? Making those errors for which he doesn’t get charged in traditional stats but does get penalized in modern stats like OAA? I have little against keeping him, but I don’t like continuing to play him at a position for which he is ill-suited. If we have no other position for which he is suited open, then I’d rather we move him to open up second base for someone. Is that Peraza? Or should we be shopping for another 2B? We can only replace e him when he is gone. Here are the 2B who ranked worse than Torres in OAA. Harold Castro - Rockies Luis Garcia - Nationals Immanuel Valdez -Boston Jorge Polanco -Twins Jonathan India -Reds Miguel Vargas - Dodgers Ozzie Albies - Braves Luis Arraez - Marlins Adam Frazier - Orioles …

Harold Castro - Rockies Luis Garcia - Nationals Immanuel Valdez -Boston Jorge Polanco -Twins Jonathan India -Reds Miguel Vargas - Dodgers Ozzie Albies - Braves Luis Arraez - Marlins Adam Frazier - Orioles … You're preaching to the choir. Remember when the Yankees acquired Gleyber, and I maintained (alone) that he would never be a shortstop due to his defensive ability? Have you ever heard me praise Torres for his defense? When I said that Gleyber's offense makes him valuable at second that was not a comment devoid of considering his defense. Ozzie Albies is valuable at second base for the Braves not because of his defense; however, when taking his entire game into consideration at a traditionally non-offensive position, his overall worth justifies his manning the position. Moreover, Gleyber is not late career Steve Sax or late career Chuck Knoblauch at second. His defense is consistently inconsistent, mostly due to mental errors and lapses in concentration. And, he doesn't have the range of Roberto Alomar; however, at third base, Torres would be physically hindered all the time. There are a couple problems with trading Gleyber. The first is that the Yankees missed the sell high window two years ago, when he was less expensive and had more controllable years. Secondly, Gleyber will only be a valuable piece in a trade if he is in a package, and I would gladly have him as part of a multi-player deal to San Diego to get Juan Soto; however, I think that is unrealistic. Also, losing Gleyber offensively would devalue the gain in offense of Soto, unless we could sign him long term, rather than a one-year rental. The Yankees need another reliable hitter other than Judge and Gleyber. Losing Gleyber offensively in a trade, would put us in a similar position. We would still need another reliable hitter besides Judge and Soto, because for some reason Peraza has not been able to hit fastballs at the big league level. Every one of his home runs have been on hanging sliders and curves. Why did the Yankees decide to depart from your boy Harrison Bader at a primarily defense-first position? It wasn't due to his defense, considered among the very best in MLB. If the Yankees had Juan Soto in left and Judge in right, Bader might have been more valued at his position in the Yankees outfield. But with the Yankees hemorrhaging offensively, they took a chance on Jasson Dominguez earlier than they liked (yet later than they should, in my opinion). It is self-evident to me that defense and run prevention are not the critical problems with this team as currently constructed. With Rizzo at first, LeMahieu or Peraza at third, and Volpe or Peraza at shortstop, and Trevino or Austin at catcher, Gleyber's occasional gaffes at second are minimized due to the overall solid and sometimes stellar defense around the diamond. What the Yankees cannot afford is to try some player for player swap to improve the defense at second base, while further decimating what little offensive talent comprises this current lineup.

Playoffs drawing near to a close. World Series eminent. Where in the hell is Soto? Come on Cashman, get moving! … I want a Japanese pitcher too! I doubt Montgomery would return to Boone’s house of 4.2 innings…
Anyone else notice that one of the writers in Dome’s post referred to the Yanks possibly getting “One” Soto?😂😂😂. How do these Numbskulls get and the keep jobs?…
