I also wouldn't trade all 3 of those pitchers for Bednar. Bednar isn't going anywhere, he is now the face of the Pirates, plus all of the work that he does for the local communities in the Pittsburgh area. The Pirates wouldn't trade him to the Yankees unless Hampton, Jones and other hit rated prospects were involve in the deal. The Pirates are looking to move up in 2024, not tear down the club. Clipper
Since when is adding prospects tearing down a team? I never heard of a Closer being the face of a team. A lot of players that got traded did a lot for the local communities in the cities where they played. If a Closer is the face of the Pirates, the Pirates should think about adding more talent to their team. But, I'm pretty sure that right now Reynolds is the face of the Pirates.

There's no way the Yankees could trade Potential starting pitchers fro anything but a starting pitcher right now. Warren, Beeter, Gomez are competing to be part of the rotation
If they trade Gomez along with Beeter or Warren, they would still have Hampton and either Warren or Beeter. In my opinion, the Yankees still need a Closer, and no one in the Yankees Pen is on the same level as Bednar.
Yankees had 9 guys start at leas 5 games last year ... they will need at least 2-3 of guys to step up this year and start some games Hampton has 11 games at AA ... he probably wont be ready until late this season if not next. They would be dangerously thin at SP if they traded any 2 Starters that are expected to help this year

They got Victor Gonzalez from the Dodgers and Cody Morris from the Guardians. And Poteet was signed to a ML deal. Gil and Effross will also both be returning from injuries. Beeter and Warren should be breaking in to the majors. I wouldn't mind seeing them sign one more pen arm, especially a LH one (don't have much faith in Krook). But they'd probably be very good as-is. morris and poteet both had terrible years last year , gil and effros havent really pitched in almost 2 years and beeter and warren havent pitched in the majors yet . At best all those guys are question marks right now . Effross and Gil both had TJS. They are both recovering normally and should be fine, most TJS procedures go well. Effross in particular has been extremely effective (career 2.78 ERA). Who did they lose that wrecks their pen? They had the best bullpen in the majors last year. It doesn't really need much fixing. Wandy might re-sign, even if he doesn't they have added Gonzalez. Middleton pitched all of 14 innings for them. Brito and Vasquez are gone, but both were question marks prior to the 2023 season. Neither was being counted on to pitch on the 2023 team.

Yeah ... If Rodon and or Cortes are anything like last year and the Yankees are stuck with Weaver as a starter they are screwed But if they have guys with potential step up i.e Beeter, Warren, or Gomez they could be alright

And yes i know gil and effros had tjs but gil had never been to the majors yet . And they both will likely have their innings load monitored . Not saying the bp is gonna be a problem this year . But Like it or not the bullpen has more question marks in it than it did a year ago . And that is reason for concern

But Like it or not the bullpen has more question marks in it than it did a year ago . And that is reason for concern King became a SP, and they have signed Stroman to replace him in the rotation. They could still use another depth SP IMO to replace Severino, although almost anyone would pitch better than he did in 2023. King himself though emerged out of their minor league system. They didn't need to sign a big ticket FA to end up with a pen arm like him. The Yankees have been very good at developing pen arms, both out of their own system and out of unlikely guys from other orgs (like Holmes). If I had to guess, someone like Warren or Beeter has a good chance to emerge like King did as they will also be able to throw multiple innings out of the pen.

Wonder if that means the Jays aren't going to re-sign Chapman?

From MLB Rumors Yankees, Greg Allen Agree To Minor League Deal By Steve Adams | January 30, 2024 at 12:11pm CDT
Fleet-footed outfielder Greg Allen is returning to the Yankees organization on a minor league deal, reports Robert Murray of FanSided. The CAA client will be in camp as a non-roster invitee this spring. Joel Sherman of the New York Post adds that Allen would earn at a $1.1MM rate if selected to the big league roster. There’s another $400K available via incentives, per Sherman, which takes the form of a $50K bonus for every 50th plate appearance beginning at 150 and ranging through 500. Allen hasn’t reached 150 MLB plate appearances since 2019 and has never topped 291 plate appearances in a season.
It’s the third stint with the Yankees for the 30-year-old Allen, who was traded from San Diego to New York back in 2021. Allen appeared in 15 games that season and has since bounced from the Pirates, to the Red Sox, back to the Yankees, to the Brewers and now back to the Bronx.
Allen spent the bulk of the 2023 season in the Yankees organization but was designated for assignment in August and elected free agency after going unclaimed on waivers. He took just 28 plate appearances with the Yanks — his only big league action last season — and slashed .217/.333/.478 with a homer and three steals in that tiny sample. The rest of his season was spent in Triple-A, where he batted a combined .252/.388/.371 between the Yankees, Brewers and Red Sox organizations.
In parts of seven of MLB seasons, Allen is a .231/.300/.340 hitter with 11 homers, 31 doubles, eight triples, a 5.7% walk rate and a 23.4% strikeout rate in 828 plate appearances. He’s a switch-hitter with minimal pop but plus speed and strong defensive skills across all three outfield positions. Allen won’t have an easy path to a big league roster spot on a team whose outfield mix consists of Juan Soto, Aaron Judge, Alex Verdugo, Trent Grisham and Giancarlo Stanton (though he’ll primarily DH). That said, he’s a fine depth piece to stash in Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre to begin the season, which seems to be the likeliest role for him unless injuries create some openings on the big league roster during spring training.
