I would pass on all of the non-tenders with the exception of Trevino (or choose Higgy if you wish)… I hope we can deal a few of them. I think Trivino has some game left in him, as may Ryan Weber, but it’s not worth the roster spot to find out…

Trade anyone not named Judge or Cole for Soto. He’s a team changer. We can’t pussyfoot around hoping that Periera can hit, or that Oswaldo is taking the next step… I’d be happy if we swapped Torres as part of that deal. I’d do that and then worry about 2B. We still have DJ, and I believe he got his problems figured out and would be fine starting 120-130 games at 2B…

Florial, once a premier prospect, is now 25 and eager to secure a regular spot on the active roster. While these numbers highlight his aptitude at the pinnacle of minor-league baseball, Florial’s defensive skills and offensive progression have yet to convince the Yankees’ management. www.msn.com/en-us/sports/mlb/yankees-trade-acquisition-addresses-future-with-new-york/ar-AA1id9aJ?ocid=NL_ENUS_A1_00010101_1_1

Florial is a year older than Juan Soto. If there's room for Florial as a bench player, fine, but he certainly shouldn't get in the way of acquiring a difference maker like Soto.

Florial is a year older than Juan Soto. If there's room for Florial as a bench player, fine, but he certainly shouldn't get in the way of acquiring a difference maker like Soto. If we could I would gladly toss Florial into that trade as just a lotto ticket on top of whatever else we’re giving up. Here’s what I saw at the end of 2023. I was rooting for him every second he was on the field. Consistently late on the fastball. Consistently rolling over outside pitches on the ground. Good strike zone judgement, but susceptible to the two strike high fast ball. Large and intimidating baserunner with excellent speed. He is comfortable taking risks. Did not always get a great jump or route in the OF, but capable of running down his mistakes. Strong, accurate arm. All in all, I can see why the Yanks were reluctant to call him up earlier. Even though, I still wish they had. With more time to settle in, he might have shown his pop. He looked a bit like he was emphasizing making contact, which is not his game. Even with his focus on contact (if I read that right), he still fanned in 20 of 61 AB. Not good. M expectation would be that he may land a platoon role somewhere, but even if platooned he’ll be a low BA guy with moderate power. He’s an asset afield and in the bases. I’d expect a short MLB career spent with non-contending teams that are hoping to see him mature late, much like several of the players the Yankees employed in 2023. Aubrey he will. If so, perhaps he’ll find a 20-25 HR season in limited AB (platoon). It’s not worth holding a roster spot for him. If he doesn’t get traded or claimed, I’d happily stash him at AAA as emergency depth, and would certainly turn to him before the Franchy Cordero types or Jake Bauers type that we seem to be so enamored of… I feel as though I’m biased FOR Florial, so I can imagine how baseball people viewed him.,

I would have kept German...go figure. If the issue was only about his performance I could agree. His personal life continues to be a mess. While that is none of anyone’s business as long as it doesn’t affect the team on the field, but when I guy keeps having to disappear and causes conflict in the clubhouse it’s a distraction. Yes. He could get “another chance”, but he’s been given multiple chances in NY already. It’s time he got a change of scenery. Plus… he’s ugly, too… 🤓

How did we not run away with the pennant with all that talent on one roster?
