I wish I could snap my fingers and Old Yankee Stadium would magically appear again like it used to be - a more personal place, loaded with history, with fans closer to the field and making opponents nervous. I can't even put much thought on it because it makes me so angry. Fenway and Wrigley were modernized, so it could have been done. I look at it as a premeditated act of senseless vandalism that didn't have to happen. The same arrogant Philistinism that led to the destruction of Pennsylvania Station 60 years ago for replacement by a soulless hideous hole in the ground. |
