If Cole throws a good game in his next start, I'd shut him down for the year. What more does he have to prove for the Cy Young? Plus, would already be over 200 innings, far more than any of the other contenders for the award. Wins: 15 is the new 20… With just average run support, Cole would be close to 25 wins by now. He's been that good and that consistent.

I’ve been critical of him as an ace in the past, but this season he’s kept his focus and he’s done the job. Extra credit for him over Sonny boy, because Cole has proven he can handle pitching in the NY market…And Gray has proven he can’t…

I guess cause no playoffs super likely they will give Cole 2 more starts he sets up for Tuesday in Toronto and Sunday in KC. If Cole throws a good game in his next start, I'd shut him down for the year. What more does he have to prove for the Cy Young? Yea I don't think it's really as close as Kay makes it sound out to be like judge last year he leads most categories. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk I missed last night's game, so I didn't hear Kay's comments, but right now would be a lock for Cy Young. He's pitched the most innings, against a more difficult schedule and has been the most consistent. The only thing that might hurt him is if he gets bombed in this final week of the season.

With just average run support, Cole would be close to 25 wins by now. He's been that good and that consistent. Cole is having one of the all-time best single seasons of any Yankee starter. Going by ERA+, better than Whitey Ford in 1961, Catfish Hunter in 1975 or Roger Clemens in 2001. Only Guidry's 1978 season, which was one for the ages, shows up better in that group. Whitey's less-heralded 1964 season was comparable to what Cole is doing this year. However you measure it, on a decent hitting team, Cole would be putting up a W-L record that is historic within the context of its era. Just a remarkable year, and it would be criminal if he doesn't win the Cy Young Award.
