Wells has not been charged with a PB yet this year, but coming into today his pitchers had been charged with 7 WP in his 14 games (13 starts). Baserunners have been 9/2 stealing on him. There’s still work to do. I’d still like to see if he can become 1st base capable and pray that we could clear the path to DH for him.
I don’t want to doom him as a catcher either, but the bat could be special, so we need him in the line up on a daily basis…
Our electricity just went out, so I may or may not be able to continue watching this one…
And just as I typed THAT, the electricity is back on. Now waiting for MLB to “communicate” with my WIFI, I guess…

No cheap wall scrapers when Wells hits them. A bomb! I haven't heard anyone complaining about his defense. Not since he was called up. Lazy reporting had everyone believing he was a first baseman. From what I have seen, he's quieter behind the plate than anyone the Yankees have started this season and rarely gets shaken off. Wells also seems to have pretty quick feet and decent hands, and his arm is not Johnny Bench, but he's got plenty on the ball. |
