Yankees looking sloppy defensively. Not sure what Boone expects when he doesn't put his best hitters in the line up on the last day of the season. That breeds a thought that this is a throw away game, and that's what's happening.

Torre said that Jeter drove him crazy in the dugout on days that he rested him, which no doubt led to Jeter seldom leaving the lineup. Torre said that O'Neill was the same way, arguing that he was fine even when he was obviously banged up. As Mariano Rivera said about Robinson Cano, "He doesn't burn to win championships." At the time, Mo was pilloried by Yankee fans of Cano. Now, we know that Rivera was spot on. Cano was more interested in doing what he wanted to do: not wanting to bat second (like Jeter did nearly his entire career), bristling when managers and coaches and teammates talked to him about running hard on the bases, and content to collect his check and have his time off after the season.

Brito's one run allowed should be charged to Waldo for not holding Witt to a single on that ill-advised dive, resulting in a triple.

Wells with another double! This time opposite field down the line, inside outing the ball. This guy could be a line to line threat with power.

One thing Cano did was play baseball. He rarely missed a game during his entire tenure in NY and usually played at an All Star level.

Austin Wells double. 3 for 4 for Wells. Wells now leads this Yankee line up with a .743 OPS!
