King had Mary a clue where his pitches were going… Well, then Mary probably told the Royals, which would explain King's poor outing. She’s such a tattletale…

I agree. Torre said that Jeter drove him crazy in the dugout on days that he rested him, which no doubt led to Jeter seldom leaving the lineup. Torre said that O'Neill was the same way, arguing that he was fine even when he was obviously banged up. As Mariano Rivera said about Robinson Cano, "He doesn't burn to win championships." At the time, Mo was pilloried by Yankee fans of Cano. Now, we know that Rivera was spot on. Cano was more interested in doing what he wanted to do: not wanting to bat second (like Jeter did nearly his entire career), bristling when managers and coaches and teammates talked to him about running hard on the bases, and content to collect his check and have his time off after the season. One thing Cano did was play baseball. He rarely missed a game during his entire tenure in NY and played at an All Star level. Aided by a needle, in which he was caught more than once. Dubious about his numbers as a result, like Bonds, McGuire, Sosa, et al. Disgraceful. Not surprising that his best friends on the team were not Mo or Jeter or Posada, but ARod and Melky. Birds of a feather, cheat together.

Wells with another double! This time opposite field down the line, inside outing the ball. This guy could be a line to line threat with power. Starting to remind me of Munson, albeit left handed at bat. Doesn’t walk a lot, but puts the ball in play (for his era). Uses the whole field. Not the strongest arm, but a quick release that can produce results… And an MLB ‘stache…

During Spring Training practice, Munson reportedly yelled over to Gene Michael who was walking across the field: "Hey, Stick, when are you guys going to pull me up?"

Last chance for our boys, possibly the last inning of the season.

Andy Pettitte admitted what he did when he was on the injured list in Houston, took responsibility for it, and then distanced himself from Clemens, who stated that Pettitte "misremembered" after Andy's testimony under oath. Cano, ARod, and Melky were caught multiple times active and during the season, and their numbers plummeted afterwards.

Not that the Royals are currently a team you’d want to emulate, but it’s been quite noticeable in this series that they use the large ballpark to their advantage by making contact, and using all of the field. They’ve made a real pain of themselves these three days. The art of making contact must make a return… contact and speed…

The needle and the damage done… Is there any evidence at all Robinson Cano used roids while with the Yankees? He got caught when he was older and far removed from the Bronx.

Cheaters are cheaters. I do still count that against Andy. I think he told the truth about questions asked but I also remember the point in his career when he added a bit more velo, giving credit to adopting Clemens “workout routine”. I think there may have been some questions that were not asked that he was quite relieved they were weren’t asked of him…

No. Strong suspicion, and with good reason… I was duped into liking the guy during the Yankee years, even to the point I wanted him re-signed when he was a FA. So glad that didn’t happen…

82-80. Put a bow on it. It is what it is. The good news is that it appears quite fixable. Health. An injection of youth, a couple free agent signings and maybe a trade or two and we’ll be good to go…
