I would take the risk. Then make them pay us to take him back. Can we DFA Ellsbury. I am thinking the chances of anyone taking him are slim. Ellsbury is on the 60 day IL and players on that list don't count against your 40 man roster, so he's irrelevant, except to the payroll clerk on payday.

You CAN DFA him. But you still have to pay him, so it really doesn’t accomplish anything from a financial perspective...I guess if he was a disruptive force, they might dump him, but he seems to be a likable guy...
