You CAN DFA him. But you still have to pay him, so it really doesn’t accomplish anything from a financial perspective...I guess if he was a disruptive force, they might dump him, but he seems to be a likable guy... I think as long as Ellsbury stays on the DL, he chunk of his salary is being covered by insurance.

Maybe it's a distinction without a difference, but my understanding is that you have to be on the 40 man roster to be DFA'd. If you're on the 60 day IL, you don't count against the 40 man roster. Maybe I have this wrong. Seems like otherwise a guy like Ellsbury would be DFA'd for sure, nobody would claim him, and he'd become a free agent.

Players on the 60 day IL don't count against the 40 man roster but at the end of the season they need to be put back on the 40 man, unless their contract has run out, then they are free agents.

I would take the risk. Then make them pay us to take him back. That doesn't make any sense.

He's neither a disruptive force nor a positive force since he isn't even with the team anymore, he's home.

I think he is retired in practice. He’s a doctor?... Must be after the fortune he made off the Yankees while never playing.

Tauchman is not staying up much longer than he is so I am not sure why it matters. I think he is getting sent to the minors now because they think he may be useful someday, grow in his ability, or they would not bother to send him there. It doesn’t matter if you’re a Yankees fan. It apparently does matter if you’re Clint Frazier.

Frazier clears his instagram but two posts and unfollows all his teammates except two after being sent down:
Clint Frazier was optioned to Triple-A Scranton-Wilkes Barre Sunday evening to make way for Giancarlo Stanton, Aaron Judge and the newly acquired Edwin Encarnacion. How did Clint take the news? According to 12up, he cleared out all but two of his Instagram posts and unfollowed all of his teammates except for Didi Gregorious and Tyler Wade.
Real mature, Clint, real mature. [img src="//storage.proboards.com/6828121/images/MGJDDHsrMXMaKUaTXDWm.gif" alt=" " class="smile"]

I guess that’s one way to demand a trade. Perhaps there were words said in the clubhouse that we’ll never hear. Perhaps they were true. But biting criticisms after the self-indulgent remarks he made about his contributions to the team.
By the way, this may be a minor point, but a “contribution” is typically uncompensated. Frazier May be getting paid the major league minimum, but in the real world that’s a lot of money. No ballplsyer ever contributed to his team during play. They’re paid professionals and they do as expected when they succeed and play hard.
The only players that may contribute are the ones that voluntarily treat young team mates well, teach and lead them, maybe buy them a meal or two and offer an ear for their team mates troubles. I don’t think that will be Clint Frazier anytime soon...
