I can see where he might have meant "What a shame that Frazier can't be healthy and be on the field". As it is, it came out another way, and Kay screwed up. Yes, he should publicly recant that statement with an apology that states that as a broadcaster, he needs to command both the language he speaks and his emotions better on air...

I'm surprised by these comments from Kay, usually he's better than that, good for Frazier for calling him out. That’s the problem with this shoot first ask questions later Hot Take culture in sports media (and elsewhere). He wasn’t even working, the guy was on vacation and called in probably not as prepared as normal and blurts that out. But then when someone called it out on Twitter he had a perfect chance to say “you know, poor choice of words on my part”. Instead he threw out the lame “I was being facetious” excuse which frankly doesn’t even make sense.

He has apologized on Twitter this morning. Good for him for owning it.

Well, he owned in the first post, but then he placed the burden on Frazier in the second post. He should have stopped at the first post...But apparently that too was beyond his comprehension...

I think the tweets must seem backwards then. The first one was the “if I offended, then” and the second one around an hour later is the one where he criticized himself for doing that and said the onus isn’t on Clint to ask for an apology it was on himself to apologize, which he did.” So his giant head eventually sorted things out.

Not a giant head. Just a long face... (: I’m sure his mom and dad, Mr. and Mrs. Potato Head get upset when others criticize their son... I loved it when Paulie said that to do a bobble head of Kay they could leave everything natural...

"If you took it the wrong way, I apologize and look forward to speaking with you personally."
I'm sorry you were offended is all this says to me. Not really a fan of Kay to begin with, but this is such a bullshit apology. If he doesn't think it warrants an apology than he should own what he said.

It’s awfully hard to say words for a living and always deliver your messages on the money. I was also originally confused about the order the statements were made in. I dunno. Sometimes it’s just time to move on...

Boone didn't seem too thrilled about how Frazier handled it through twitter:
Boone was asked whether there were any issues with Frazier going after Kay on social media.
“I don’t necessarily love that part of it, but we also don’t want to stifle when our guys want to make a comment or have a thought,” Boone said. “We’re not going to get in the way of that but, yeah, sometimes I’d prefer that stuff be handled a little bit different.”

How dare Frazier defend himself from Kay's idiotic comments? What's wrong with the guy?

I'm neutral on that, too. I don't really know how well Frazier really knows Michael Kay, or how much access he has to him. It may have been better to send Kay a private message, and then for Kay to go back on the air and make a retraction. One mistake doesn't justify another mistake. But it's also human to have a reaction, and the younger we are the more likely we are to want to speak out publicly and show a little chip on our shoulders...
My thinking is that this is really not such a big deal and that both men should get past it quite easily. Life is too short for grudges and anger...

I have no issue with Frazier responding publicly to someone recklessly criticizing him in the same public manner. At the same time, probably good for Boone to want to impart some element of caution given that athletes can pretty quickly do damage with something tweeted out that isn't thoughtful. Possible Boone has the Sonny Gray thing in mind as well when he's answering that question.

Tweets are such a shit way to communicate context, but so are posts come to think of it, but since none of you guys are going to come to the bar in Singapore where I’m writing this, I guess a certain degree of telepathy is needed from time to time. BTW, just binge watched season 2 of Brockmire. I wince a bit every time he mentions doing wrestling matches in Manila. I have done my share of minor sport broadcasts in that fair city myself.👀

Yankees Option Clint Frazier
By George Miller | June 16, 2019 at 4:39pm CDT
The Yankees have optioned outfielder Clint Frazier to Triple-A, tweets Kristie Ackert of the NY Daily News. Frazier’s demotion will clear a spot on the active roster for the newly-acquired Edwin Encarnacion.
