Just my 2 cents....But I still think that the Yankees are the slight favorite to sign Yanmamoto, unless some team offers him a ridiculous contract. I'm not sure if the Yankees should or would offer Yamamoto, Cole/deGrom money per year. My view is that if the Yamamoto contract is big enough that it affects an offer to Soto for an extension then it's not worth it. Hey Max, guess this board is a new start for us. Looks like it's made up of a good bunch of Yankee fans. Not an expert on the LT, but with contract escalations I wonder what the mechanism is for increasing it.

The initial luxury-tax threshold is $237 million in 2024, $241 million in 2025 and $244 million in 2026. Going $20 million, $40 million and $60 million over that threshold entails additional surcharges and penalties at each point.

For some reason, I haven’t thought of this until this very minute. Will Yamamoto require the six day rotation like Ohtani? …

Not sure if it is reliable but MLBScoop posted on X that the Dodgers have taken the lead for Yamamoto. The way I see it, it never matters who’s “in the lead” at a given moment. It only matters who gets the ink on the contract at the end…

I would like Yamamato ... but size is concern
And there is no way in hell the Yankees should give him a Gerrit Cole like contract

The only kind that flourish in the Bronx. Joey Gallo-esque need not apply to East 161st Street and River Avenue.

I heard today that guess who is going to the Saints Rams game today in California.-Ohtani & Yamamoto. Seems they are friends. Added to NY being across the country, me no like.

Supposedly he is working to pitch on a 5 day schedule. Wants to be be the best in MLB without the accommodations. Love his attitude and work ethic as reported !

Correction:
Jon Heyman @jonheyman Yamamoto is not planning to go with Ohtani to the Rams game tonight. That’s a rumor that’s false.

I would like Yamamato ... but size is concern And there is no way in hell the Yankees should give him a Gerrit Cole like contract I'm not too worried about his size. There have been small elite pitchers in MLB history like Pedro and Whitey Ford.
Have you seen his sling shot delivery? Its pretty cool:
