Not talking about Volpe he is solid so far ... I'm talking about the so called depth gehind the starters i.e Peraza 4 of those bad players - Calhoun, Florial, Bauers and Hicks were rated higher than Peraza at some point. Mckinney wasnt far behind Yeah their depth has been pretty garbage over the last few years . That is true It's mindboggling to me that any Yankee fan would be satisfied with Cabrera's -1.5 WAR and .500 ops

That is true It's mindboggling to me that any Yankee fan would be satisfied with Cabrera's -1.5 WAR and .500 ops With the 13 man pitching staffs, you need at least one bench player that can play multiple positions. Cabrera right now is that player for the Yankee, now if he's frequent guy in the starting lineup, it's a problem.

No. But I do feel he is still growing as a MLB player. It’s not time to give up on him, but he’ll need to deliver in 2024 to retain his position…

Are you sure those 4 players were rated higher than Peraza? Peraza has nothing left to prove at Triple A and keeping him on the bench is almost as much of a waste as not playing him at SS. He's either a trade candidate or a starter without a starting position with the Yankees. That in my opinion, that's depth.

Couldn't resist taking that cheap shot? Are you still wondering how you stir things up?
Anyway, you must be the fans that are patient with players that don't have much MLB experience and the fans that realize that the Yankees have had for the most part been WS contenders since Cashman was named their GM.

Sports Illustrated | Matthew Postins: There’s a saying that you get more from not being stupid than you get from being smart, that just not being awful at something provides plenty of its own value. The Yankees are no longer awful at projected outfield production, where they ranked 25th in baseball in 2023. With a trio of new outfielders in the group, and the departures of sub-replacement level options, the Yanks project to have the best outfield in the game for 2024.

New York Post | Greg Joyce: After agreeing to terms with Luke Weaver and Marcus Stroman this week, the Yankees are set to boast a payroll north of $300 million for the first time as a franchise. The team’s now past the “Cohen Tax” bracket, although the roster still has a couple more needs so we should expect to start the year even further abreast of that line. However, if you adjust the payrolls of the mid-2000s squads for inflation, the Steinbrenner family has been willing to spend more real dollars in previous years.

Tim Baumgardner: I think the Yankees will use Weaver, Gil, Warren, Beeter, and maybe even Hampton and possibly others during the season if they don't majorly upgrade this rotation with a high-level signing or trade. Yankeesource's reply: While the depth is decent, relying on them as a primary rotation option is troubling. Gil and Beeter seem destined for pen roles, Weaver is just an innings filler, and Warren may have the best upside but not a given. Rodon, Stroman, and Cortes are injury risks. Schmidt is a performance risk. Managing this will be a daunting task.

Peraza can play 3B, 2B SS DJ can play 3B, 2B and 1B Even Torres could play 3B or SS in a pinch I'd rather keep an xtra catcher so Wells can play some 1B in a pinch and DH ... to get him ABs when he's not catching Keep 5 Infielders, 5 Ofers , 3 Catchers and 13 Pitchers ... Call up an infielder if you need one later
