Tim Baumgardner: I think the Yankees will use Weaver, Gil, Warren, Beeter, and maybe even Hampton and possibly others during the season if they don't majorly upgrade this rotation with a high-level signing or trade. Yankeesource's reply: While the depth is decent, relying on them as a primary rotation option is troubling. Gil and Beeter seem destined for pen roles, Weaver is just an innings filler, and Warren may have the best upside but not a given. Rodon, Stroman, and Cortes are injury risks. Schmidt is a performance risk. Managing this will be a daunting task. I dont consider Stroman an injury risk ... he'averaged 28 starts per year since 2016 ... 25 a year for the last 2 seasons. Cortes and Rodon are a big concern

So if Soto leaves the Yankees in free agency and goes to the Mets, will Alonso be Soto's likely replacement?
If Soto and Torres leave and Peraza is still with the Yankees, maybe the Yankees pivot and use that money towards signing Burnes and Santander.

If Soto and Torres leave the Yankees will be worse off offensively in 2025 then they were in 2023 Rizzo and DJ will be 36 and 37 and Stanton will need a walker to get around the Bases

Either way, it's out of our hands, so I'm just going to enjoy this upcoming season.

Santander would make up from some of the lost offense. He's a good fielder too. Cole and Burnes at the top of the Yankees rotation has a nice ring to it. Not sure if Rizzo will re-sign with the Yankees. That might depend on what kind of year Rice has. But I rather the Yankees keep both Soto and Torres. I was just answering the question.
So Quim, what if Soto leaves the Yankees in free agency and goes to the Mets, will Alonso be Soto's likely replacement?

Yep, that's all us fans can do. But, I do enjoy speculating.
By the way, good luck to your Steelers today.
