Yep, he and Lou Piniella were both of Spanish ancestry, and I am pretty sure Mussina was from Sephardic Jewish heritage. On the other hand, the 1970s ad with the Indian chief crying over pollution in the river actually featured an Italian-ancestry actor who worked under the name of Iron Eyes Cody. Iron Eyes Cody (Espera Oscar de Corti) is a distant cousin of mine. He was born and raised in Vermilion Parish in south Louisiana. When I was a kid, when those commercials came on, my uncles would tease about our Italian-Indian cousin. At first, I thought it was a joke, but it was later explained to me exactly how and through whom we were related. "People start pollution -- people can stop it." Those ads were in heavy rotation. Cool that you are related to him Rizz.

"Cy Young winner Blake Snell continues to seek a contract that will pay him at least $240 million, and now awaits to see what team blinks first. The New York Yankees made an introductory offer for nearly $100 million less, which was quickly dismissed before they turned to Marcus Stroman to fill their vacancy with a two-year, $37 million deal." bleedingyankeeblue.blogspot.com/2024/01/details-of-blake-snells-offer-from.html

What do you think the Yankees would do it those 2 players left? I can't imagine why the Yankees would ever let Torres go if they cant sign Soto ... But If that happens I still dont want Alonso. I dont like him ... he's a Met and a Clown and I belive he will turn into an all or nothing player, sooner then later. I think it has already begun. I don't know if the Yankees could resist signing him and having him and Judge in the same lineup, especially if the Mets sign Soto. I'm not a fan of his showboating.

Then why make jones untouchable since he can play 1b . Alonso would be a big mistake .

I don't know if Jones is not going to be traded, I never heard or read a quote from any Yankee front office people say that. Sorry, I can't help you. Someone in the Yankees front office would possibly know for sure.

That's a lot different than saying/claiming/wondering/etc. that Jones isn't going to be traded.

He could have stayed home and played football at Penn State, as a kicker. I think he made the right choice. Chi, do you remember the Penn State kicker who was from Italy, Alberto Vitiello? Maybe just a bit before your time. I think he was between the Bahr brothers. Grit Magazine, right? I remember those ads in low-end publications "Be a Grit salesman." Right in there with the ads for Charles Atlas body building and learning electronics at home in your spare time. Don’t forget the ads that touted that you could recondition car batteries at home for “fun and profit”. Having sold, handled, and installed car batteries for years I keep trying to imagine the fun part. One of the worst details to get stuck on was a battery delivery direct from the factory. The topper at the end was handling the 50-60 return battery cores. The smell, the filth. The knowledge that it was the last day you would probably wear the clothes you had on that day…

From what stories that I have read about the Hot Stove Trades, the Yankees consider the Martian, Hampton and Jones as untouchables. They have told the Brewers and the White Sox no in their talks about Cease and the Brewers Pitcher.
