Oh yes. An extension would be a requirement to give up the big boy… Burnes is a Boras client so there would be very little chance of an extension. Can’t wait until Boras has enough money and goes away…

I wouldn't trade him for one year of Burnes (he's a FA after this year). Maybe if Burnes signed an extension. Oh yes. An extension would be a requirement to give up the big boy… Well i would think if they are trading the farm for him that an extension would be a requirement

It would be exceedingly rare to move a CF capable of to IB. Yes, Bellinger does it, but usually its a corner OF… Athleticism wise, Bellinger is a good comparison for Jones. Spencer can play all three OF spots and 1B and he can run well. It's easy to see why the Yankees like him so much.
When Stanton is off the team, it would benefit the Yankees if Jones can play the OF so that Judge can spend sometime DHing. Especially if Judge moves to CF in order to allow Soto to play RF.

As I said, it would be painful, but I would indeed trade him for Burnes, who fits the bill perfectly for what we need right now. While Burnes peripheral numbers have been changing a bit that may be that he’s adapting to learn to pitch more to contact. He looks like one that can do so. At 28-29 years of age he can’t keep blowing the ball past hitters forever and pitching to contact can lengthen his career and his individual outings as well… I wouldn't trade him for one year of Burnes (he's a FA after this year). Maybe if Burnes signed an extension.
The Yankees would certainly be a tough postseason match up with Cole and Burnes starting games 1 and 2. The Yankees have to give to get. In my opinion, any player for the right price can be traded. I mean after all, Ruth changed teams, so did Frank Robinson, and other Hall of Fame players. But with that said, I'm not a fan of when Yankees trade for players in their walk years.

If the Yankees are still having contract talks with Snell, they seem to be moving at a snell's pace.

Yeah, they could just use the DH as a rotating spot between Judge and Soto and anyone else that needs a 1/2 day off.

Anthony Volpe’s next-level base stealing vital for Yankees’ 2024 triumph MLB.com recognizes the untapped potential in Anthony Volpe’s base-stealing capabilities for the upcoming season. Although his speed registers at 28.3 feet per second (compared to Trea Turner’s 30+ ft/s), Anthony Volpe compensates with craftiness, boasting an impressive 83% base-stealing success rate in the previous season. His minor league statistics further support this potential, with 50 stolen bases and only 7-time caught stealings in 2022. Having navigated the challenges of his inaugural big league season, Anthony Volpe is poised to exceed his initial achievements in base stealing. Anticipate witnessing him evolve into an even more formidable threat on the basepaths, adding a new dimension to his already promising young career. pinstripesnation.com/anthony-volpe-next-level-base-stealing-vital-for-yankees-2024-triumph-2024-01-16/

Which of these players would you rather have (statistics from 2022-2023)?
Player A: 5 OAA, 112 OPS+, 27.9% K%, 10.8% BB%, .195 ISO
Player B: 7 OAA, 103 OPS+, 17.8% K%, 11.5% BB%, .132 ISO
So, which one do you want? If we take for granted that Player B is a better defender at third, we can forgive the slight drop-off in total offense, particularly in combination with better plate discipline, right? Maybe Player A is a bit more valuable, but not by much, right? We also know the Yankees need plate discipline, so Player B might even be a better fit when you combine better plate discipline and infield defense.
Player A is Matt Chapman; Player B is DJ LeMahieu. If you were wondering why Chapman hasn't scored a good free-agent deal yet, now you know.
This also highlights an important point: I think we've started undervaluing DJ LeMahieu. If he's actually getting healthy, and we can expect him to play good defense at 3B and make contact in front of the boppers, the Yankees are in good shape at 3B, particularly since they at least have a good defender backing him up in Oswald Peraza.
This comparison also tells us something very interesting about this year's free agent market: there's a reason it's stagnant. Chapman is certainly the fourth-best free agent remaining. Would you pay a ton of money and commit 4-6https://www.startspreadingthenews.blog/post/mid-january-thoughts years to Matt Chapman? Me neither.
