SSTN: Carlos Rodon showed up to camp like a man on a mission, and word was that he was sitting in the mid-high 90s in live ABs. I think we're going to see the guy the Yanks thought they were getting last year.
Luis Gil is healthy again and flying under the radar. The whispers are that he has a greatly improved change-up.
The Yankees seem really confident in DJ LeMahieu. Aaron Boone seemed to indicate that the struggles LeMahieu had at the plate in 2022 and through the first half of last season were directly related to his toe injury; the numbers he put up in the second half indicate he can still be a premium bat. If DJ can stay healthy, I think DJLM has one more really good offensive season left in the tank. Maybe not 2019/2020 good, but plenty of contact and on-base potential.

Aaron Judge has spent the majority of his career batting second, a role he has excelled in. According to Yankees reporter Bryan Hoch, however, Judge has been asking Boone to let him hit third, rather than second. Great ...Soto prefers batting 3rd and now Judge decides so does he Soto is a much better hitter batting 3rd vs 2nd Judge is a slightly better hitter batting 2nd vs 3rd I'd go Judge 2nd and Soto 3rd ... Or Soto 3rd vs RH Starter Judge 3rd vs LH Starter just to keep them both happy Whover is batting 4th is going to have it made ... I think it should be Gleyber or flip Gleyber and Rizzo depending on LH or RH Starter. Definitely dont want to see Stanton 4th killing rallies ... Could also flip Stanton and Verdugo depending on LH or RH Starter. DJL Judge Soto Gleyber Rizzo Stanton Verdugo Wells Volpe

He is the manager after all.

I think if rodon can stay healthy he could have a nice bounce back season , he has the talent . His biggest issue is staying healthy . And how good will he be after missing almost an entire season? Not making any predictions on Rodon, he's a real wildcard but he only pitched 7 innings in 2020, he followed it up in 2021 with 135 IP, 2.67 ERA 13-5, 2022 178 IP, 2.88 ERA and 13-8.

Drives in 75 runs for the entire season…

Looking forward to Giancarlo reporting to spring training in the best shape of his life. Then, when he hits .180 he can blame it on not feeling strong at his new weight… Getting in shape is always the solution… only it seldom changes anything… Giancarlo Stanton, leading the league with the lowest cholesterol and A1C… lol! I'm fine if Stanton shows up for camp around 5'9" 180 and can play a solid CF and steal some bases

I think most do not question Rodon's talent. He's brittle. Carl Pavano had talent, but was an injury waiting to happen.

I was just trying to show that there is history of him pitching well after missing an entire season. I have no idea what to expect from him this year. I think he is the biggest wildcard on our roster. I do think it is encouraging that he reported in good shape. Maybe it's an indication that he realizes he has to change his approach.

If the Orioles have Matt "I Am Not A" Krook on the roster, my prediction is they won't let him languish twelve days on the bench before using him."

nypost.com/2024/02/18/sports/yankees-hope-ron-marinaccios-offseason-work-leads-to-2024-rebound/“I don’t think he had a good base coming into camp last year, just from the lack of lower-half strength work and power development,” pitching coach Matt Blake said Saturday. “I think he was playing from behind the 8 ball last year and it snowballed on him a little bit.” "Marinaccio threw two innings of live batting practice Saturday and, after allowing some loud contact early, got sharper and flashed an improved slider as his third pitch." “He’s probably in as good a spot as he’s been in in a couple years,” manager Aaron Boone said.

ESPN | David Schoenfield: There’s no real way to sugarcoat Giancarlo Stanton’s 2023. It was bad, the worst of his career to this point. He’s well aware of that and is looking to change the narrative on him going into this year. He reported to camp lighter than he has in past years and is looking to remain healthy enough to stay on the field after all the injuries he’s dealt with over the years.

Top 5 Relief Pitchers Heading Into 2024 5. Clay Holmes Clay Holmes sometimes gives Yankees fans heart attacks with his ability to close out games. However, since joining the Yankees in 2021, he’s been one of the best relief pitchers in baseball. Since becoming a Yankee, his ERA has been 2.50 with one of the lowest home run rates at 0.3, making him a late-innings specialist. Holmes’s job is to come late into games and not give up any big hits. He has been able to do this at an elite level because of his sinker, which induces a ton of groundballs. Holmes’s biggest weakness has been his occasional inability to avoid walks while closing. This is why many Yankee fans see him as a reliever and not a closer. The walk is what kills you late in games and adds stress to what could be an already depleted bullpen. Holmes has to work on keeping command in save situations if he wants to move up higher on the list. lastwordonsports.com/baseball/2024/02/20/top-5-relief-pitchers-2024/
