Yankeesource: I think Anthony Volpe will be coming into the season a bit underrated. He now has a year of learning MLB pitching and consistently facing high velocity under his belt. Don’t be surprised if he finds better success (and more consistent zone discipline).

The Tigers have agreed to a one-year deal with free agent infielder Gio Urshela, reports Jeff Passan of ESPN. The Rep 1 client will be guaranteed $1.5MM on the contract, which is pending a physical. Jon Heyman of the New York Post adds that the deal contains incentives which can further boost Urshela’s earnings.

I can understand some Yankee fans wanting Gio back in the Bronx but he's not a good defensive SS and the Yankees need a utility guy that can play a good short stop.

I wouldn’t be too shocked if he hit around .250-.260… I wouldn’t bet on that mind you, but he could surely show rapid improvement…

I think realistically he could hit around .230 or so

?????????????? Marty Mush: My sources confirmed that Blake Snell is Signing with the New York Yankees and are just working out minor details. The Yankees add to the rotation to make them a World Series favorite. This is on SportsSpyderYankees' news feed. His name may say it all.

Remember, he struggled a bit in Scranton in 2022 hitting .236 in 22 games, also hit just .251 that year in Somerset. I'm hoping he can up his walk rate a bit, too, more in line with his A/AA numbers. If he can walk 65-70 times this year, that would push his OBP up into a respectable (.320-.330) range. His speed on the bases more would be a huge help.

Gun to my head I’d say about .235, but it’s not unusual for a second year player to show massive improvement, especially if they got out of the gate slow and improved as they went along. In this case the improvement was lacking, but he did have that little hit streak after his dinner meeting with Wells. That player exists inside of Volpe somewhere. A player that can get hit and do crazy things for a couple weeks. The key would be to find that player 3-5 times per season instead of just once…

MLB.com | Manny Randhawa: MLB Network finalized their list of the top 100 players in the game right now on Wednesday night, with three Yankees falling in the top 10. Aaron Judge took the third slot, Juan Soto seventh, and Gerrit Cole was slotted in ninth as a recognition of the top-end talent New York will enter the 2024 season with.
No other Yankee in the Top 100.
