If Rice could play 2b that would make sense, but he can't. Durbin is yet another valid reason why they should ship out Gleyber though. Does Gleyber have any options left? Free agency after the season.

Rice can't even get to AAA. Just my 2 cent, but I think Rice should be playing at Triple A, and Jones should be playing in Triple A in a few weeks. I agree. Kevin Smith isn't needed at Scranton, so Rice could replace him. Plus Odor is still in the organization, but is on the injured list. They should cut him lose too.

Does Gleyber have any options left? Free agency after the season. Ups and downs. He’s showing signs of heating up. He has a track record of protracted slumps accompanied by blistering hot streaks. By the end of the season he’s likely to wind up with stats near those of his career averages. Free agent decisions will be made on both sides, his and the Yankees. But they’ll be made based on the entire season and what the needs are on both sides. By the way, .264 .332 .445 .777 112 Those are his 162 game averages. With 26 HR and 82 RBI. I think he’ll challenge all of those numbers by season’s end…

Plus, some player is going to get released if the Yankees plan on putting Peraza in Triple A. Maybe there's a trade coming?

My guess is because of the Yankees roster and budget, he's most likely on another team next season, if not sooner.
I just want to add that if the Yankees had a player at Triple A that put up the stats you posted, many Yankee fans would be begging Cashman to promote that player and put him in the Yankees starting lineup.

Gleyber actually had an advantage cascade free agent in that he’s only going to be 28. Most of them are around 30. Provided he snaps out of his slump and puts up numbers representative of his career norms, he should have plenty of suitors.
The Yankees will have to decide if he’s the best option they have. The only other choice at this point may be Durbin. Then there’s also the decision on Soto, and that one may take a while because it’ll be Soto making the decision. It’s kind of a fun situation to watch…

It may not be the full reason but a partial reason for keeping prospects in AA instead of promoting them to AAA is because of the automated strike zone in Triple A. They might not want Rice or other players to hit in such an environment that is different from the MLB in how they call strikes and balls. At least that's what I've read.

From MLB Rumors 5/9/24 The Yankees claim Pitcher Colby White on waivers from the Rays
The Yankees announced Thursday that they’ve claimed right-hander Colby White off waivers from the Rays, who’d designated him for assignment late last week. White has been optioned to Double-A Somerset. The Yankees already had an open 40-man spot after designating outfielder Taylor Trammell for assignment and outrighting him to Triple-A, so a corresponding 40-man move isn’t necessary.
The 25-year-old White was a 2019 sixth-round pick by the Rays. He ranked among the team’s most promising arms at one point but has seen his career set back by injuries. The right-hander missed the 2022 season and a good portion of the 2023 campaign recovering from Tommy John surgery. He returned to pitch 22 minor league frames late last year and posted a 1.64 ERA that looked pristine on the surface but masked some worrying trends. Namely, White issued a free pass to a whopping 19.5% of his opponents in last year’s comeback effort.
His command woes continued this year, and the good fortune he had in stranding all those free baserunners dried up. White pitched 7 2/3 innings in the Rays’ system but was rocked for 15 earned runs on the strength of 10 hits and 10 walks. He’s given up a walk to just under 22% of his opponents this year and has also hit a pair of batters.
Command wasn’t an issue prior to White’s surgery. In 2021, he posted a sparkling 1.44 ERA across four minor league levels while dominating opponents — evidenced by a comical 45% strikeout rate and a strong 6.4% walk rate. White is in the second of three minor league option years, so the Yanks will send him to Double-A and hope that the change of scenery can get him closer to his 2021 form. If they can accomplish that, White could yet emerge as a quality big league reliever, but he’s clearly a project in the wake of his post-surgery struggles to locate the ball.

Thats what I think as well ... Players old and young are putting up 1.000 Plus OPS in AAA ... come to the MLB and bat below .200 with a .500 ops Automated strike zone is going to suck for pitchers and skew offensive statistics beyond the ROID years

May 10: RHP Nick Burdi reinstated off IL The Yankees activated Burdi before their series opener against the Rays on Friday. Burdi, who was dealing with right hip inflammation, pitched an inning for Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on May 7 as part of his rehab assignment and struck out the side. He returned to Yankee Stadium after that game. The Yankees have sent Reliever Ron Marinaccio to Triple-A Scranton.
May 9: Yankees claim RHP Colby White off waivers The Yankees claimed White off waivers from the Rays and assigned him to Double-A Somerset on Thursday, the team announced. The 25-year-old reliever had a 17.61 ERA in nine games at Triple-A Durham this season, with 10 strikeouts and 10 walks in 7 2/3 innings. In four Minor League seasons with the Rays' organization, White had a 2.83 ERA in 91 games, with 167 strikeouts and 58 walks in 111 1/3 innings. He has not pitched in the Majors. White was selected by the Rays in the sixth round in the 2019 MLB Draft out of Mississippi State.
May 8: RHP Tommy Kahnle begins rehab assignment Kahnle started a rehab assignment with Single-A Tampa on Wednesday, the Yankees announced. The right-hander, who has not pitched in the Majors this season as he recovers from right shoulder inflammation, will need to pitch in about five rehab games before he's ready to join the big league club, manager Aaron Boone said. Boone said at least two of Kahnle's rehab outings will be with Tampa, after which the Yankees plan to transfer him to Double-A Somerset or Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.
May 7: INF Oswald Peraza, RHP Nick Burdi on rehab assignments; OF Taylor Trammell outrighted to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. Peraza began his rehab assignment with Single-A Tampa on Tuesday, while Burdi had his rehab assignment transferred to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre after his first rehab game at Double-A Somerset was rained out on Sunday. Burdi is only expected to need one to two rehab outings before he's ready to return to the Yankees' bullpen. Peraza is further away from a return to the big leagues.Manager Aaron Boone said the infielder will need to go through a multi-week ramp-up. That will start in Tampa with Peraza playing four or five innings for a few games, with off-days mixed in, before potentially being transferred to Double-A Somerset or Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, where he would build up to playing full games and back-to-back days. The 26-year-old Trammell has played in five games for the Yankees this season, mainly as a pinch-runner and defensive replacement, and has a hit and a walk in two plate appearances.

CBS Sports: DJ LeMahieu took batting practice on the Yankee Stadium field earlier this week, and is traveling with the team on their current road trip. Aaron Boone said that the veteran would ramp up baseball activities throughout the next week and could be nearing another rehab assignment. LeMahieu attempted a rehab stint last month that was aborted after just one inning.
