So, with Stroman and Weaver the Yanks now have 42 major league players… any ideas about who gets cut/traded ? I think Narvaez is superfluous… I’m sure they’ll make a trade for some young minor leaguers to restock but who goes ?

It's going to be one of the catchers and outfielders being DFA, possibility of setting up a trade. Clipper

Jeter Downs and Bubba Thompson would be my first choices. You can sign guys to minor league deals that fill their voids.

I think they make a trade for some prospects not on the 40 man or a trade for a reliever to fix this problem .

Narvaez has options left, so he can come up from AAA if there is an injury to Wells or Trevino. And chi probably nailed the other two top candidates, with Jeter Downs being the #1 candidate since they just signed Kevin Smith.

I thought Rortvedt had an option year left, but you're right, he doesn't. That changes things, the Yankees should try to trade him or risk losing him for nothing. This Fangraphs link shows the status of all the minor leaguers. It's very useful. www.fangraphs.com/roster-resource/depth-charts/yankees

His injury was very untimely for him. But that’s part of his story…

Since the Yankees signed Stroman, it's less likely now that they will trade 1 of their MLB infielders. The Yankees have too many Catchers on their 40 man roster, so they might trade one of them. The Yankees also have a lot of middle relievers, so maybe they might look to trade Jon-Lo and or Kahnle.

Kahnle makes me nervous with his over-use of the change up, but I don’t think he’s valued very high…

Why would they weaken an already thin bullpen? You would think the roster cutting would come from their already crowded infield or catchers

I think the Yankees would be satisfied if they traded Kahnle for a halfway decent prospect that they don't have to put on their 40 man roster.

Look at their 40 man roster. Their middle relief isn't thin.

Look at their 40 man roster. Their middle relief isn't thin. Other than holmes , maybe khanle and maybe a couple of prospects . It is a bit thin talent wise . Like it or not king and peralta were a big loss to the bullpen .

Like it or not king and peralta were a big loss to the bullpen . Holmes, Jon-Lo, Hamilton, Gil, Krook, Ramirez, Poteet, Morris, Marrinaccio, Effross, Kahnle, Gonzalez. That's 12 pitchers for 8 roster openings. If that's not depth then what is.
King became a starter, and Gonzalez takes Perelta's place.

Let's hope it's not quantity over quality. I see a bunch of question marks in that list. I still think we bring in a more established BP arm.
