I have 79 Topps baseball card of Paul Reuschel while he was with Cleveland, sporting his glasses and wearing one of those classic 1970's Indian's uniforms. He looks exactly like my high school government/civics teacher, Mr. Baker. You’re not scarred for life, are you? …

1B/DH - Butch Hobson - The future Red Sox manager would have a non-descript 30 game, 58 AB stint in the Bronx in 1982, hitting just .172 with a .390 OPS. Attachments:_57.jfif (45.42 KB)

1B/DH - Butch Hobson - The future Red Sox manager would have a non-descript 30 game, 58 AB stint in the Bronx in 1982, hitting just .172 with a .390 OPS. One thing we can also rest assured is that Hobson added zero defensive value. He rather famously made 43 errors in 133 games for the Red Sox in 1976 with a laughable .899 fielding percentage. His lifetime fielding ledger shows a .926 at the hot corner and an equally poor positionally .951 at first base…I hated that acquisition. Hobson was terrible when he could hit, much less when he was washed up..,

“Spud” Webb…received his nickname when he was a newborn baby in the hospital and a visitor remarked to his parents that his round head resembled the Sputnik satellite. By the time he was brought home from the hospital, "Sputnik" had been shortened to "Spud."
Wow...must've gone thru the rest of his life self-conscious about the shape of his head.
