I heard these two guys had a little scuffle... One of them looks embarrassed by it… I've been staining my decks the past couple days. For anyone interested in the color, it's pretty close to the color of Hamilton's face.

He was a Yankee twice as long as Reggie. And he easily did much more to contribute to our successes… Absolutely!! He contributed offensively, as well as defensively. He was a team player. Those are things you can't say about Jackson.

It's disgraceful how overlooked he's been by the Steinbrenner family. In my opinion, he deserves much more of an honor than Reggie Jackson! Agreed.

Our decks are painted, but I like that color. I’m going to take the picture of Hamilton into Sherwin Williams and ask them to mix my paint that color when we repaint this summer. Imagine “George Hamilton’s Face” becoming a standard color on their shelves… 🤓

But one thing about Reggie… he backed up most of what he said. Three swings, three HR. Tears of joy, man. The only three HR by other Yankees ever made me feel that way. Mantle’s 500th, Chambliss’s playoff shot, and the Bucky F. Dent HR…

He put it in and it faded badly and the company wouldn't do anything for him. I guess that's rare as I have not heard of anyone having a similar problem. I used Cumaru wood which is a very dense Brazilian hardwood. It looks like mohagany when cared for properly. It's a little more work but we really like how it looks plus I'm retired and like doing projects like this.

You’d think the dry weather would mean it would never rot, but the intense sun shine drys it out and cracks it like you wouldn’t believe…but with the sun being as strong as it is Trex can damned near melt the shoes off your feet, or maybe permanently onto your feet. Our front porch only gets morning sun, but the “back” one is on the end of the house and it cooks all day… luckily our sitting area is a concrete patio…

The product I use is oil based and primarily a UV protector. The product instructions say it's good for two years but I put it on yearly.

You’re absolutely right re sun being the primary cause of deck damage. An oil-based product is best for protection, and it pays to stay on top of it, as you do. I’ve built quite a few decks, including those subject to Colorado weather. For those who don’t want to spend the money you obviously did using Cumaru wood, a combination of pressure treated lumber (for the “frame”) and redwood for the posts, railing & decking is a good alternative. But yearly maintenance is imperative with any wood. I built a small, ground level deck/pergola here using pressure-treated lumber, redwood for some trim & Trex for the decking. It’s been about 13 years and all, including the Trex, have held up well under the AZ sun/heat.
