I would start with DJ who had a good 2nd half. If he falters I may consider Verdugo or Gleyber. My ultimate hope is that Volpe can show enough to eventually leadoff in the future.

DJ hit well the last part of last season, so I would start with him, but this change. One disadvantage of DJ leading off is that he's so painfully slow, I'd like to see more speed at the leadoff spot.

I like LeMahieu batting first against both righties and lefties, as long as he doesn't fall off completely. I like the same lineup everyday, as much as possible.

I voted “other”. Young Inger would have been a fine choice, but that ship has sailed. I wish we could get a real lead-off man with wheels. One that walks, has a bit of pop in his bat for XBH. One that will harass the bell out pitchers.
I wonder if Rickey would come back? Tim Raines? Young Gardner? Mickey Rivers? DJ only had a .320 OBP vs RHP last year and it was only a decent .346 for his career.
Verdugo produced only a .329 vs. RHP last year and is .346 for his career. He’s not exactly a speed demon, either. Too close to call? I think I might want Verdugo… just because I’m tired of using this 🐢 emoticon…
This one 🐌 too, but that’s for Stanton… another sore subject …

If we just wanted someone that gets on base, Soto would be the best choice. But we would need Soto to knock in Soto.

Verdugo. Just to shake things up, get a fresh new take on the team, get some attitude, etc. We need to stop being the same Yankees team we've been for years. Stars or not, it's not working.

It will probably be DJ though, Judge has already lobbied for the top three to be he, DJ and Soto. Volpe is the only real running threat and I don't think he's ready to lead off yet as a hitter. He would be the best choice if he could up his BA and OBP. I would love to see Caleb Durbin break through.

I would love to see Caleb Durbin break through. Had an outstanding '23 AZFL - .353/.456/.588/1.045/ 21 SB

lol! Yep!
In my opinion, the Yankees first 4 batters should be...DJ, Torres, Soto, Judge.

With his OBP and the speed he has, I would love to see Durbin in the Yankees lineup. But... Where would he play?

2B...after Gleyber is moved to 3B.

2B...after Gleyber is moved to 3B. You know my thoughts on that...Re-sign Torres and leave him at 2B.
I see that Durbin has experience playing 3B. In my opinion, if a player can play SS he can play 2B or 3B. He doesn't have the power of a typical 3Bman, but Volpe's and or Torres' power numbers can off set that. Just speculating here, but it should be interesting what the Yankees think of Durbin. Their thoughts might come down to if Peraza is going to be traded or not if they decide to re-sign Torres.
