I can't see Glyber being a Yankee next year. He will be too costly as a free agent and we'll have to put most of our eggs in the Soto basket. We should ride Glyber this year (he may even hustle to first occasionally), trade him at the deadline or let him go into free agency. Durbin could be a possibility next year or another young breakout prospect. Despite the "doom and gloom" that many predict this year, I'm excited about come-back seasons by LaMahew and Rizzo, and a more productive year from Stanton. With Judge and Soto leading the way, improvement from Volpe (after a year of too often swinging from his heels, he may realize that he will help the team more by making more contact), and a surprising strong year from Verdugo, we'll overtake the O's and Rays and Blue Jays. We may need to win a lot of 8-7 games, but #28 will be ours!

Bob, the way I see it, if Torres isn't back with the Yankees next season its not because of his talent, it's because of the L-Tax. I wish both him and Soto would sign deferred money contracts.

Letting players of Gleyber's caliber walk because they're "expensive" is what small market teams do.

Please take a look at the Savant numbers for Torres from 2021 when he played SS. When he chose to do so he achieved elite velocity on this throws. This "discussion" should sound very familiar to you. Yeah....I guess we kicked the rosing out of this. But I love to talk baseball. Heck, I am still talking about whether the Yankees should have traded Murcer for Bonds.

If we intend to make a serious run for Soto next year, we need to go with youth somewhere. Glyber is talented but his occasional great play or timely hit is often followed up not having his head in the game and frequent lack of hustle. We have talent in the farm (Durbib, Peraza, Vivas), that could take over next year or sooner.

Agreed, but the penalties for a team that's in the top threshold of the L-Tax are no joke.

A bit more than "occasional timely hits"... .273/.347/.453/.800/25 HR BTW...Gleyber is a "young" 27 yo with established credentials.

I'm tired of the Yanks using that as an excuse...making fans pay for their blunders.

"The Dodgers let Seager walk."
Who is the ’23 World Series MVP? Which team is the ’23 World Series Champion? Which team was swept out of the playoffs by an 84 win team?

Are the Red Sox a "small market" team?

The crap shoot theory is a bunch of baloney .
