Best I ever had was in New Mexico, well Tex-Mex. Green chile to die for. Always wanted to pay a vist to new mexico . I was stationed in Colorado Springs doing space weather support for NORAD from 2007-14. We would do annual trips down to our Solar Optical site at Holloman AFB in Alamagordo and the deep space telescope in Socorro. The scenery and food is as good as anyplace in the country. We'd make the trip by car and stop off in multiple towns and eat, eat, eat. I always returned from those trips 5-10 lbs heavier and with a big bag of Hatch Green Chiles.

Here in Reno we have some pretty good pizza. The best was Nu Yalk Pizza. The owner is from Staten Island, but sadly he retired and closed the restaurant a couple of years ago. My husband is still in mourning. Pineapple was NOT on the list of toppings😄

My expertise on pizza joints is severely lacking. We recently went to Stretch Pizza in NYC. It was pretty good. Nothing to write home about though.

Ruthie will eat damned near anything on a pizza unless it comes out of water. Of course that’s true in general too, but putting it on top of pizza just adds to its glory…

Looks like a cheesecake with pepperoni on it. Sorry, that was rather snobbish of me.

That's my favorite style of pizza. I just like Pizza, any style. The older I get, though, I am starting to prefer thin or regular crust.
I like thin crust pizza baked in a coal oven. My favorite pizza is from Lombardi's and Arturo's.

I completely agree. While I prefer the thin style pie we have in NJ and NY, I don't knock our friends in the Midwest and Sicily, who are fans of really thick bread and sauce. Born in the Bronx; grew up on NY style pizza, which I love. But there are different styles of pizza in cities across the country...many delicious. One doesn't have to be "better" than another. It comes down to ingredients and of course personal preference. I like thin crust pizza but every once in awhile I will order a Sicilian pizza.

Of course...and I love NY style "thin" crust, as well as other styles. Gotta love it when people talk of typical NY style pizza being "authentic" when, as you pointed out, authentic Sicilian is "deep dish". Some pizza crusts are so thin it's almost like a saltine cracker. Many different pizza styles and varieties.

When I was selling propane in MD I made a sale to a guy that owned a deli. In time we became friends. He was an unusual fellow in that he carried near to 500 pounds on his 6’ frame. I recalled the first time that I ordered a sandwich at his shop and asked for a small. He laughed and said, “We don’t do anything small here. One size, and that’s large.” Okay. I couldn’t finish the sub I got for lunch. In fact, my then wife ate some of it and I ate the rest. One day he offered to make us a pizza at no charge. When I took the box from him I was stunned at the weight. It was a meat lovers pizza, which I took home for dinner that night. Neither of us could eat more than one slice at a time and I’m ashamed to say we couldn’t finish it. I think two slices went to waste. He was also the guy I got a used deli case from at a later date to house my N scale railroad set (I was separated then, so I put it in the kitchen)… From the past...A coworker's uncle owns an Italian deli near Yankees Stadium. His uncle would make Italian subs for his son and his nephew for a game in Yankees Stadium. The subs he described sounds yummy. Little did he knew my co-worker ( his nephew) became an avid Mets. We had great fun talking about our teams. He use to call me at Yankees Stadium watching the subway series with his son and wife. Sadly, he past away. I will miss our friendly chats in promoting our respective teams. Has anyone tried a Detroit style pizza? Lots of cheese is added to edge to make it crusty. Hard to get my hands on Wisconsin brick cheese. I substituted it with mozzarella. Sauce is added last in strips. It's closer to a deep dish but not exactly that deep or as heavy. I make pizza at home. Dough is not difficult to make with a few ingredients. My preference is thin NY style. However I made Detroit style pizza, it was tasty but definitely more carbs are involved. www.google.com/url?sa=i&url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.seriouseats.com%2Fdetroit-style-pizza-recipe&psig=AOvVaw2Z15uJMmAh7EnguRYr150N&ust=1709328106200000&source=images&cd=vfe&opi=89978449&ved=0CBMQjRxqFwoTCNjGzMe90YQDFQAAAAAdAAAAABAX
