Spencer with a Baltimore chop that he did not see was going to be fair, but with his speed he still beat out the throw to first even with a delayed start. Big guy can move from home to first. He looks like he's going to be a special player. I wonder if the Yankees are going to have him start the season at Double A or Triple A?

Selvidge gives up a leadoff triple then strikes out the side to keep the shutout going.

T.J. Rumfield hits a 2 run HR of his own. Yankees lefthanded power in the farm system on display in this game. This is what I like to see. Build a team with young, home-grown players that'll be exciting & competitive for many years. An OF of Jones, Dominguez & Judge...Soto if they can re-sign him.

The Yankees are so conservative, my guess would be AA, but if he tears it up, he will see AAA sooner than later.

They are using a challenge system on balls and strike calls and the Yanks just used it to get an inning ending strikeout. love this. folks at YES probably got tired of me banging that drum. if we have the technology, then i want the calls right. an incorrect call either way can change the course of an AB or even outcome of a game. can't wait for this to be implemented in the bigs. a challenge system is a nice start. don't need to see any more umpire "scouting reports" or catcher's gymnastics behind the plate. just get it right. oz has spoken ...

I would use an aggressive approach with talented college players like Jones, but you're right, Jones will probably start at Somerset.

Overall, my surmise is the majority of posters on this forum agree with you. With Angel Hernandez and Laz Diaz, technology has become a must.

Much like Jasson Dominguez last spring, Spencer Jones does not look overmatched at all and appears to be able to rise to the level of competition.

you & i have been in lockstep about this. build a team from within and then fill in. that's what the late 90's teams did. start w the core 5 (i always include bernie) then add on.
someone mentioned the sound of the ball off spencer jones' bat. remind anyone of someone else - maybe # 99 ...

Bernie is so unassuming, he is often an after thought, even though he batted clean up most of the time those championship years.
