Well, this will be the last game in which I will be blacked out for a while, until the Yankees play Texas and Houston travels to New York. So ridiculous. Houston is a three and a half hour drive away from Dallas. To use streameast and watch the game, I have to turn off my VPN. MLB only cares about corporate advertising and not its diehard fans. After today, the Yankees only have 3 games left with the Astros.

Really is pretty amazing we are 3 and 0 with Gleyber, Judge and Rizzo all struggling so much.

Paul Skenes, the LSU first round draft pick of the Pirates, threw three perfect innings yesterday at AAA with five strikeouts, with multiple pitches from 100-102 mph. So silly that Skenes didn't make the Pirates roster out of spring training. Needs to stretch out and also gives them an excuse to get the extra year before arbitration and free agency. Low pitch and innings counts in the minors last year and spring training. LSU won the College World Series last year. Skenes was throwing complete games and well over 100 pitches for LSU, maintaining his velocity the entire game, into the playoffs and the CWS. He's 6'6" 235 with control - just a beast. This is all about greed, and the Pirates are not going to sign him in his free agency year.

Altuve gets a 1st pitch sinker that didn't sink, near the middle, gets under it to left center, Verdugo moves over and catches. Schmidt got away with one.
Quickly gets ahead of Alvarez 0-2 Curve down and in spoiled.

Curve misses up and in, Cutter misses the back door, 2-2 Cutter misses inside, from 0-2 to 3-2. Sigh. Curve waist high, near outside corner, rolled over to Torres in the 34 hole, flips to Schmidt covering, 2 down.

1-2-3 first for Schmidt.

Sinker in the drop the bat zone inside corner thigh high, Tucker takes it, 0-1 Swings through a cutter away, 0-2. Tucker swings under a cutter in the zone up and in, K.
About as good a first inning as we could've hoped for. 11 pitch 1-2-3 for Schmidt.
Top 2, 0-0 Stanton, Verdugo, Berti for the Yanks.

But they didn't let him extend last year or in spring training, I think, so all those innings were almost a year ago. And you're probably right about the contract, unless they get him to agree to a long extension in the next year or two.

Stanton double on a breaking ball.

Stanton takes a ball, then a strike. Gets a gift cutter just above middle, swings under, 1-2 Slider knee high, just outside middle, blasted toward the corner in left, and Stanton turns a double into...a double, surprisingly enough.

So silly that Skenes didn't make the Pirates roster out of spring training. Why only 3 innings. They intentionally treated him like a reliever during spring. This is the Pirates excuse to stretch him out. Skenes is big league ready. The great thing about him is he first attended Air Force Academy prior to LSU; he's going to follow the chain of command without complaint. He's very mature for his age and a natural leader.
