Although, having stood a few feet from Altuve, I think his listed height of 5’6” is generous.

So far, Boone seems to be running out a pretty consistent line-up every day. Not sure last year we had the same line-up a dozen times the whole year.

Are you attending the game tonight? No...wife has a long-standing commitment for tonight. Just as well...my baseball budget has been stretched to the limit, with games in SoCal coming up in May. But...I will be there tomorrow. A day game, weather is supposed to be clear with temps in the 70s...hopefully roof will be open, as it should be. Volpe's listed at 5'9"...also probably a bit generous.

Of course it'll never happen, but I believe the regular season should be shortened...start in May, end in September.

Not gonna lie, Nestor makes me nervous. Hopefully he gets off to a better start tonight. One thing that has always been a headscratcher for me is how Nestor gets away with pitching up in the zone so much. His fastball isn't anything special but he throws it alot where it seemingly has a lot of plate and is up around the letters. It must be either hard to pickup from his delivery or there is more movement than it appears on TV or it's time for me to get a new pair of glasses.

I think he only throws it for strikes about 1/2 of the time, for one thing. Since he has a fair number of pitches that he throws down in the zone as well and they too are only actual strikes less than 1/2 of the time it’s almost a surprise when he’s up and in the middle. His craft is appealing to the hitter’s temptation by getting them to swing at pitches just off the plate… and realizing that even in the middle of the plate a high fast ball is hard to hit. Note: Nestor’s slider is only in the zone about 27% of the time. I always recall an aging Tommy John who confessed to throwing ball 3 intentionally to appeal to the greed of hitters. Sure they were getting a little higher sinker, he’d bury one in the dirt that they couldn’t make good contact on…

2nd time through the rotation. cortes had the worst start first time through, though he settled in and retired 12 of last 13. hopefully he builds off that.
gallen is tough. a RH, so cabrera starts. if cabrera falters, we'll see berte get more starts against RH'ers. need to see judge, rizzo, verdugo & stanton step it up. as much as they're "infatuated" w stanton's power, if the numbers aren't there, he can be a platoon player soon.

With so many guys using the uppercut swing I see advantages to being at the top of the strke zone.
