The reality is we have been waiting for Stanton to get hot for the better part of 3 years now. Look at the stats the decline has been very visible. He lost a lot of weight this year and got more flexible supposedly but his pitch recognition and insistence on swinging at pitches breaking away from the strike zone keeps happening. He may end up hitting maybe 20-25 homers but all the missed opportunities with runners on base and non-contact outs by him will more than offset the 450 foot homers he may hit from time to time. In any case there is no way you bat him 4th or 5th in this lineup. Until DJ comes back I would move Volpe into the leadoff and slot Gleyber either 4th or 5th. If Stanton plays he is either batting 6th or 7th. Depending how Volpe does and with his speed I may even leave him batting first and put DJ somewhere probably 6th when he comes back. I don’t think Volpe is going to be as good at stealing bases as it appeared he would be early last season. He’s not as fast he looks on this team of basepath snails. Since his hot start stealing last year the pitchers seem to have figured him out. 20 steals? Maybe. ..

I guess we will see what Boone feels when the lineup is announced. How long does he continue to bat Stanton cleanup? um he's not. he only batted cleanup because a LH started. he's batted cleanup twice this season and both times w LH starters. today w RH gausman starting, more than likely he'll be dropped to 5th or lower if he even starts. he's 6-18 career w a 2B & HR and 8Ks against gausman so we'll see what boone's thinking. probably wells will catch and ocab will be back at 3B, so if stanton sits, then grisham starts and either judge or soto DHs. doesn't exactly set off fireworks.
boone has had no problem sitting or at least picking his spots for stanton this season as he's already sat twice in 8 games. hate it or hate it, with no great immediate viable options, they'll give him every opportunity to succeed until there is an option either by trade or the arrival of dominguez and they're ready to swallow an $108 mil investment. i hate his swings and he has zero pitch recognition but until they run out of rope, that's the situation.

His sprint speed is more in the slightly better than average ranking rather than the elite. Not that it bothers me…

Missed the post game interviews. Did anyone ask Boone why he didn't pinch hit Wells for Trevino?

Thank you, Kaybli.
I'm just a Yankee fan, but in my opinion Boone should have taken a chance and let Wells hit. Just maybe there's a chance that Wells hits enough of the ball that it goes of the short porch fence.

We had an enjoyable game chat yesterday but when it ended I was done. I shut it off and moved on. Just want to see the offense wake up today. Don't care who does it and if it's the long ball or fundamental move the runners.

Dropped Stanton in Fantasy. Ain't nobody got time for him to streak back. I was going to draft Stanton in the late rounds but didn't. I did however draft Shane Bieber.

Yep, I drafted him in one of the middle rounds. I don't draft pitchers in the early rounds because so many of them get hurt.
I'm a fan of Strider and so far in his early career I think he's pitched like an Ace. I had a late 1st round draft slot and was tempted to draft him, but because I don't draft pitches in the early rounds I drafted Soto instead.
Ugh, can you imagine if I used 2 draft picks to draft Bieber and Strider? I can't even laugh about it because they both got hurt. I hate to see that happen to anyone. Strider's career is basically just getting started. Bieber paid his dues and I'm sure he would have received a big contract this winter. Anyway, I wish them both well.
