I will also go to Chik-fil-A on occassion. I think their chicken sandwich is pretty good. That's another place I see lines of 20+ cars at the drive-thru, just like Starbucks in the morning. I don't get it... I'm old enough to remember when coffee was a freebie at the diner or in some cases a dime or quarter a cup. I prefer Peets over Starbucks but mostly make coffee at home. On the rare occassion I stop at a Starbucks I'm always surprised at some of the crazy coffee drinks people are willing to pay 5 or 6 dollars for. Now, get off my lawn!

Like '55, I don't eat much fast food...not for any health reasons...I just don't. I can't even remember the last time I had a fast food burger...but it was probably Wendy's. If we're on a road trip and want a quick breakfast I can eat in the car we'll go thru McDonald's for a Sausage Egg McMuffin, Hash Brown & Coffee. There's no way in the world I'd get in line for a Starbucks coffee unless I have no choice, like at an airport.

Quick service in there, and I usually eat out doors if the weather is good. The only thing that sometimes turns me off is the occasionally creepy religious vibe… Like they’re robots, the Stepford Wives of fast food… Exactly...

There is a new one opening up closer to where I live.

I'm a simple man of very simple tastes. I drink a lot of coffee...black...at home...usually Folgers. If I'm on the road McDonald's coffee is just fine. My wife likes whatever the foo-foo coffees are at Starbucks. I resent having to use pretentious Italian names when ordering a large black coffee at Starbucks. Just gimme the coffee so I can get outa' here.

Do you enjoy Shake Shack? Not sure there is one near me. I don't do fast food alot. I do like Fuddruckers but not sure if that is a chain. I think Five Guys are better than In N Out, but sounds like I'm in the minority on this one. Last time I went to In N Out was after Coaching a golf event that ended late. Didn't feel like cooking. I waited over 30 minutes for my foor and the burger was average at best. The fries were ice cold and I just left them on the table. Five Guys is better than In-N-Out, but they are too different animals. Five Guys is nearly ten dollars just for the burger; In-N-Out's burger alone is just over two bucks. Also, every Five Guys I have been to are stand alones, whereas In'N-Out is a drive thru burger place competing with others of that ilk (e.g., McDonalds, Wendy's, Burger King). Fuddruckers is a chain, there are just very few of them these days. It is also more like Five Guys, a non-drive through place where you build your burger with a toppings buffet and a price that is more in line with FGs. I never get the fries at In-N-Out, they are not better hot than cold.

The Sausage Egg McMuffin is the best item that McDonald's has - a real egg, not the kind that comes from a carton, real cheese, quality sausage. The only breakfast item at MDs that doesn't give me stomach problems later.

Not a "Skynrd" fan, but like that song. Al Kooper "discovered" Lynyrd Skynrd; produced their first albums. He discouraged them from recording "Simple Man". They told him to leave and they'd let him know when he could return.

A ridiculous amount of them in that greasy paper bag. But it is pricey, and it’s not “fast” by any means…

Don't worry; the egg is well-done.

The only breakfast item at MDs that doesn't give me stomach problems later. There was a real CIA trained cook on the old MLB Yankee Message Board. I asked him how to replicate the Sausage Egg McMuffin at home. He gave me a recipe that included about 10 ingredients...a pinch of this, a dash of that. Heck with it...I'll just go to McDonald's.
