Clarke K's Schmidt with a good back leg curve on 2-2. 1 down.

2-1 on Naylor, foul tips a cutter into the mitt for strike 2. Cutter misses down and in, 3-2. Challenge him, even with a 1 run lead. Dumb, just dumb. Back leg curve taken for ball 4.
Things like this are why he can't go more than 5 innings.

2-1 on Florial. He came into this game 2 for 14 with 7 K's and 2 BB. Walk this guy and you deserve to lose the lead.
His command is just so poor. Too bad. Stupid, stupid walk.

He's the same pitcher. I don't see any real improvement in his command, and slowly, his stuff will diminish.

Schmidt is getting too quick. Start throwing curveballs to stay back.

This fifth inning deal with Schmidt is maddening…

Rushing and flying open nearly every pitch at the moment, making him misses outside and high.
These are the 7-8-9 hitters and they're not good hitters.

Hey look at that! Maybe's he's learning! Schmidt gets out of the 5th with a DP.

Schmidt imploding against the bottom of the Cleveland lineup but gets the huge DP to end the inning.

Nice DP! Will Schmidt be allowed to start the 6th inning?…

2-0 to Rocchio is a sinker above the waist to the inside corner, Rocchio rolls it over to Torres, who starts a 4-6-3 DP.
Schmidt escapes his own poor command. 20 pitches in the 5th, and 79 through 5.
Boone has a tough call here. Schmidt's command...3rd time through the order...already at nearly 80 pitches, he'll be facing the tough top of their order...but it's a doubleheader.
Top 6, 1-0 Yanks. It would've helped a lot if the Yanks had cashed in a couple of chances and had a 3-0 or 4-0 lead.
