Checking in after walking dogs and running errands. Looks like one of those "it's never easy games". Matt, I thought of you and Pipps last night. Met a friend of mine in Fort Worth at Poag Mahoney's Irish Pub to catch up. I wanted an Old Fashioned, but they didn't have any Rye, no cherries, no oranges. I told the bartender to surprise me with what they did have to closely approximate the cocktail. She used bitter with Bulleit brand bourbon. I have to say I was impressed. Had never had Bulleit previously. Really enjoyed it. Wish pipps and I were there. Sounds like my kind of cocktail.

Not sure about that. If he gets caught, you kill the inning and Soto leads off. If he's successful, they almost certainly pitch around Soto and go after Judge. Yea good point. Soto K's anyway.

Volpe steals 2nd, but his hard slider takes his hand off the bag, back foot catches it, but I wonder if the tag wasn't on him in between. Guardians don't challenge.
Count goes full on Soto as he takes a waist high change on 3-1. Misses a FB in the zone up and away for the K.
So, I was wrong about the SB And I was wrong about them pitching around Soto. Morgan came right after him, a change in the zone for strike 2, and well-spotted FB in the zone up and away (even though we've see Soto hit that pitch a couple of times this year already).
Bottom 6, 3-0 Yanks. Now I think Boone at least lets Schmidt start the 6th.

Extra runs might allow Schmidt to start 6th, but I'd have someone ready. First game of DH is always big. Especially with Poteet pitching game 2.

0-1 curve at the knees, lobbed to left for a flare single.
I hope someone's throwing, or Schmidt might have to face Ramirez as the tying run.

Dying quail for Kwan to double the Guardian's hit total.

Remember when the Soto trade happened and Grisham was going to be a big surprise piece? YUP don't see it. He's the only elite CF on the roster which is why Cashman wanted him.

Quickly 0-2 on Gimenez. Again rushes and flies open. Curve was supposed to wind up inside, backs up outside for ball 1.
Cutter at the top of the zone in the middle, hammered through the 34 hole into right for a single. Kwan stops at 2nd with nobody out, and Ramirez will bat as the tying run.

Ferguson in for the Yanks; Ramirez is 1-2 against him with a RBI.
