I know that the two have no correlation, watching Poteet reminded me of journeyman Aaron Smalls going 10-0 for the Yanks in 2005. Similar styles, but as pitcher velocities are much higher now, Poteet tops out at 95, whereas Smalls struggled to hit 90, if I remember right. Volpe turns on a waist high FB off the plate inside, keep his hands in, and lines it to center for a single. Verdugo stops at 2nd with 2 down.

Volpe is doing the right things whether he gets a hit or not. Much more confident and balanced this season at the plate.

1-1 change on the outer half, Soto rolls over on it to Naylor, flips to Parsons, inning over.
Bottom 7, 8-1 Yanks.
Florial, Fry and Arias in the 7th for the Guardians.

Indians bought Parsons from the Jays this past Wednesday. 6 hits, 5 earned runs in 5 innings with 2 HR, 2 BB and 2 K, an ERA of 10.80 this year so far. Cabrera works the count to 2-2, then can't check in time on a FB way high for the K, 1 down. So, you're saying he's the Guardians' Parsons Project?

Volpe is doing EVERYTHING better this year Changed his approach, and now the league has to adjust to his new ways. Then we see if he can win the battle of counter-adjustment vs. counter-adjustment. Things look promising.

Why are you walking the leadoff batter up 8-1, Santana? That was not "Smooth".

Santana in for the 7th.
1-1 on Florial. Sinker dives outside, 2-1. Cutter gets a tiny piece of the high outside corner, not called. 3-1 Sinker well outside, ball 4. Florial walks.
