Verdugo most avoid the DP grounder here.

OK, they got 5 batters up there and made him throw 20 pitches.
FB down the middle at 97, the count goes to 1-2 on Trevino
Slider low, lined to left for a hit, Schneider comes up throwing they send Stanton, the throw is on time, but Yanks catch a big break as Jansen simply drops the throw.
When they sent Stanton, I said to myself, he's dead at the plate, but Jansen dropped it. 1-0 Yanks.

More rest for Rodon, plus a small lead..
Cabrera takes a slider over the middle for a strike.
FB in the middle at 96, top of the zone fouled off, and Cabrera jumps up and down, thinking he should've crushed it.
Bounced curve, 1-2.
FB way up and a bit inside, straightens Cabrera up, 2-2
Slider in the down below and inside of middle, topped back to Kikuchi, who throws out Cabrera to end the tinning.
Bottom 2, 1-0 Yanks. 26 pitches for Kikuchi in the 2nd, and he's at 43 through 2.
