Slider with tremendous side break goes across the whole plate to the outside corner, and Verdugo does well to spoil it.
Slider stays just up and away, 2-2. Fb near the top, fouled off. Verdugo fighting, at least.

Slider away, rolled over to Rosario, who's not at 2nd, Rizzo to 3rd with one as Verdugo is thrown out. 1 down.

Torres 2-10 with a 2 run HR, 4 K and 2 BB vs. Cleavinger. Takes a strike on the outside corner. Back leg slider way down and in, chases and swung over. 0-2 Fb inside and a bit up, at 98, fouled off. Slider down and in, grounded right to 3rd, Paredes throws out Torres, Rizzo stays put.

Game comes down to Cabrera. One swing of the bat can tie it up.

We really need to start getting something out of Judge and Gleyber. They're black holes right now.

Unfortunately we have to wait for tomorrow to draw a win for this series.

Missing Wandy after that loss. Still so nice to see Nestor getting hot.

Just a putrid performance by the Yankee lineup, wasting a lot of good pitching.

Cabrera 0-1 with 1 K 1 BB vs. Clevinger Takes a back leg slider 1-0 FB clips the zone barely, but called ball 2. Slider down and in, Cabrera chases, fouls Can't blame him, with Jones on deck, he's the game right here, but I don't like him swinging for HRs. Takes a slider down the middle, 2-2 Rushes, flies open and the slider hangs outside, 3-2. Was supposed to be inside I think. Slider winds up near middle, but the big break fools Cabrera who K's to end the game.
Yanks lose, 2-0 in 10 innings. The story right now is that almost everyone in the lineup is slumping, except Soto. They've been shut down by all five starters this week, and most of them are good pitchers, but no championship caliber team allows itself to be stymied by the opposing starter, night after night.

Just a putrid performance by the Yankee lineup, wasting a lot of good pitching. Eflin was on today, but we should have got this bullpen. We really need Judge and Rizzo to start chipping in more often…and a killer more from Verdugo would be nice. We better start thinking about life without Rizzo. He may never be the same… And the catching situation is getting ugly…

Yanks lose 2-0, and drop to 14-7 on the season, losing at least 1/2 game to everyone in the East for now, and a full game to the Rays.
In their last five games, the starting pitchers against the Yanks have put up these numbers.
28 2/3 innings, 18 hits, 3 runs (all earned) 9 BB, 30 K and 0 HR. The ERA and WHIP against them are BOTH 0.94. It's awfully hard to win games with that kind of hitting. Kind of amazing they've stolen 2 of the 5 games. Now, they have to try to steal the series tomorrow with Gil pitching against a hot Aaron Civale, whom the Rays appear to have tweaking into an excellent starting pitcher, and without Holmes.
