Definitely concerned with Judge. He looks the worst version of himself, chasing pitches out of the zone. Truly lost right now.

Series finale is tomorrow at 1:07 on YES, Aaron Civale, 2-1 in his first four starts, with a 2.74 ERA. In 23 innings, he's allowed 17 hits, 8 runs, 7 earned, 4 BB and 26 K, but has given up 5 HR. Gil, who'd pitching OK but hasn't gone past 5 innings in any of his 3 starts, will go for the Yanks.

Is this the third for fourth shut out in 21 games... Not a good trend.. Third. A lot for 21 games… It isn't just the number of complete game shutouts, it's the number of games in which to offense is stymied by the other team's starter and appears lifeless. Happening way too often since the 1st week of the season. |

Didn't log onto the game thread today but did watch. A couple observations, sorry if I'm repeating what has already been said.
We wasted a great effort by Cortez
Don't think anyone expected Volpe to be a .300 hitter, even with hot start. will be be satisfied with .260 - .270?
When you start a lineup like this, you need more from the middle of the lineup
Last year Judge stayed off the slider low and away, this year he's swing at pitches a foot outside
I've been a big Wells supporter and thought he answered some critics last year, questions should be surfacing again
Fergusen is becoming someone not to be trusted with the game on the line
Thought we would see a big bounce back from Rizzo, now not so sure
All of a sudden our bench looks really weak

Just my 2 cents...But it was one of those games where I have to give the Rays credit. In an excellent pitched game by both teams, they simply out pitched the Yankees by a hair.

Rays also had more competitive ABs. Yankee hitters not named Soto had very few hard hit balls or grind it out abs. Rays seem to get a lot of 2 strike basehits. |
