1-1 change is popped to center by Diaz, Judge catches, inning over. Could've been a bad long inning, but back to back 3 pitch outs holds it at 16 pitches, Gil is at 84 through 5, and will almost certainly start the 6th.
Bottom 5, 1-1 Soto, Judge and Stanton for their 3rd look at Civale.

Other than some unforced errors, Gil has dominant stuff today.

Soto gets ahead 3-1, then misses a curve down the middle, grounds to Caballero for the first out. 1 down.

It's strange seeing Judge miss so many cookies this season.

Wondering if it would have been beneficial leaving Volpe down in the lineup longer. He's been pressing since moving up to leadoff. Moving Volpe up stinks of an organizational decision. Just one day prior to moving him, Boone said that at some point he would move him, but it wasn't time yet. With that being said, Volpe had already begun to cool off in the couple of days prior to his move up. We've also seen a change in the way they're pitching Volpe. The only way you can tell if he's "pressing" or he's trying to adjust is his demeanor and we don't have access to that.

Judge takes a FB just low and away, 1-0 Gets a hanging slider down the middle, but is early and fouls it off, 1-1 Curve low and away, 2-1 chases the cutter outside, rolls over to Caballero for the 2nd out.
Yanks offense going down mostly quietly against another opposing starter. This is happening way too often.

We had Civale on the ropes in innings one and two and let him slip away. He’s good…

2-0 on Stanton. Takes the cutter low/away, 3-0. Green light? Doesn't matter the cutter is well outside for ball 4. Rizzo up with man on 1st and two outs.

Rizzo... Chases a cutter down and in, 0-1 FB inside, 1-1, Rortvedt bluffs a throw for no reason, as Stanton was just starting to lead off 1st. Chases a terrible bounced curve inside, 1-2 Takes the same curve he just chases, 2-2 Time to pitch sequence a sinker to the inside corner I think.

Slow curve into the middle, but Rizzo is early and pulls it foul Back inside here I think.
