FB misses 3-4 inches outside, called a strike anyway, 1-1. So a BIG K zone today.
Curve backs up way up and away, 2-1.
Letter high cutter inner half, Langeliers ties himself up, pops it next to the A's dugout, and Trevino makes a nifty grab leaning over the rail, 1 down.

FB near the same spot as the cutter, 1-2
FB up in the zone fouled off.
Slider down and in, 2-2
FB misses well up and outside, 3-2
FB outside corner waist high, Toro pulls it on the ground to Volpe, who throws him out, 2 down.

Gelof takes a cutter high. then gets a meatball down the middle at 92, misses, pops to Torres on the short grass in RF to end the inning.
Bottom 2, 0-0.
13 pitch 1-2-3 for Rodon in the 2nd, 22 through 2.
Stanton Rizzo Torres in the 2nd for the Yanks.
Rodon's FB at 92-4 so far, averaging 93, and max FB so far was just 94.1. I hope he's saving stuff, as per the current plan.

The plate is extra wide today, but not that wide, Sears.
FB in the drop the bat happy zone down and in at 93, but Rizzo watches it go by , 3-1
Then good pitch sequencing, a sinker aimed at the same spot as the FB drops to the knees, and Rizzo tops it foul, 3-2
Big breaking slider moves across the entire plate, winds up 2-3 inches outside, Rizzo chases and misses, K.

Looks like Rodon is back! Not getting any swings and misses so far against a bad offense, so, no, not really Old Rodon. Not yet, anyway. Slider winds up right down the middle, Torres stares at it, 0-1. Missed a change diving to the knees, 0-2 Slider moving to the inner half, Torres jams himself, pops to Gelof, 2 down. |

Gets another about an inch further outside and starts, can't check, K, inning over

Schuemann was just called up a few days ago. He's a 26 year old utility guy who's hit .270 in the minors, draws walks, steals bases (52 one year in the minors) and has little power.
Noda gets a 1-0 just below middle middle, pops it high on the infield grass back of the mound, Volpe fights the sun and catches.
