FB for a strike to Allen. Change way outside, 1-1 FB waist high outside corner is strike 2 FB near the middle, but Allen misses, grounds it to short, Volpe scoops it up and throws him out, 2 down.

It occurred to me Oakland has a disadvantage flying across the country for an afternoon game. Don't know why this is the case. I just tuned in so I haven't heard any cogent explanation to the fact.

Schuemann takes a change in the middle above the knees, 0-1 FB high, 1-1 FB just inside at the knees at 95, 2-1. Challenge this guy, Rodon. But he rushes, flies open and fires the FB high, 3-1 Challenge this guy!!! And he does...FB in the zone up and away, popped near first, Rizzo catches, inning over.
Easy 1-2-3 for Rodon, just 11 pitches and 33 through 3, but still not getting swings and misses. just 1 so far. Sears has 5 in his 24 pitches.
Bottom 3, 0-0. Torres, Cabrera and Volpe for the Yanks.

Miller is on 4 days rest, so they can use him for more than one inning today. Yanks better have the lead by the 8th inning.

Oh great. They ask the loudmouth to stay for another 1/2 inning in the booth…I wish these guests i the booth would go away. The game becomes secondary to a weiner dog story…

FB in the top of the zone, 0-1 Change outside, FB low, 2-1 FB low in the zone in the middle, but Trevino somehow pops it to Nevin in short right, 1 down.

Cabrera takes a slider low in the middle, then breaks his bat on a change down and in, rolls over to Allen, who throws him out, 2 down.
This Is Not Good.

Change outside to Volpe, and the ball is actually called a ball, 1-0 Slider winds up just below middle middle, 1-1 Backdoor slider misses low, 2-1 Look outside go to the Porch. FB is well low, called strike 2 anyway, 3 inches below the knees, awful call, 2-2 Nope Slider hangs just above middle, but he misses under and flies to Schuemann in medium deep left. Inning over. Easy 1-2-3 for Sears again. Just 11 pitches and 35 through 3.
Top 4, 0-0. Top of the order for the Rays, Ruiz, Nevin and Rooker.

Do you mean: why is it a disadvantage, or why is today's game a 1:07 start? A 1pm start is particularly a disadvantage for a team traveling across the country after hosting a home game. Why are the Yankees the only team to schedule a 1pm game. A 7PM game would be more feasible, especially traveling across the country.

A's were in Cleveland over the weekend so flying to NY for a day game isn't as huge a disadvantage as it might be especially because yesterday's game was an afternoon game.

Oakland was playing in Cleveland yesterday, so it's a short trip, but still annoying to playing a Monday afternoon game.

Ruiz takes a cutter inside, then a FB into the top of the zone 1-1 Fouls off a cutter down and in. Flies open on a FB misses up and arm side, 2-2 Slider down and in, but not down and in enough, pulled foul Needed that one back leg. Flies open again, and misses up and arm side, 3-2 Challenge here, Rodon. And he does, FB inner 3rd about the waist foul You MUST keep challenging here, no walks.

FB outside corner, spoiled. FB up in the zone, late, check swing fouled off. 10th pitch of the at bat, here. Cutter up and in taken, ball 4. You have to challenge that guy with FB after FB. If you leadoff walk, the chances are better than 50-50 he turns it into a double, in effect. Slider down and in hits the back foot of Nevin, and Rodon is in BIG trouble now. Might even get a double steal attempt somewhere in here.

Change up and away, ball 1 to Rooker FB in a hittable spot at 95, waist high inner 3rd, fouled off, 1-1 FB down the middle in a dangerous spot, but Rooker misses again, fouls it off.
Still getting no swings and misses. Bad slider just outside of middle, hit deep to right, but it dies on the track, Soto catches, throws in to 3nd to hold Nevin, Ruiz to 3rd with 1 out, and Langeliers coming up.
