Baseball was meant to be played under the sun, not the moon! And we are saving the planet at the same time!

FB 3-4 inches outside called a strike to Langeliers. Big breaking curve into the back door for strike 2. Bounces a slider low over the inside corner, Trevino blocks, 1-2 Finally gets a key swing and misses on a sharp slider down and in for the K. Big, big pitch.

Oakland was playing in Cleveland yesterday, so it's a short trip, but still annoying to playing a Monday afternoon game. OK, I checked their scheduling, I must of read it wrong. I thought OAK /Guardians was a home series for Oakland. Usually afternoon weekday games are scheduled in the summer months for summer camp kids to attend.

FB on the outer 3rd up in the zone at 96, taken, 0-1 FB at the top at 97, popped to Volpe in short left center, fights the sun, catches. Rodon gets out of the jam.
OK, so the A's can't hit, but that inning is an example of Rodon's attempt to use the Cole Method successfully. His best slider today was the pitch that Langeliers whiffed on for the K. and he threw his two fastest FBs so far to Toro, and got him to pop up the 2nd one to end the inning.
Bottom 4, 0-0 21 pitches for Rodon in the 4th, 54 through 4.
Soto, Judge and Stanton for the Yanks in their half.

Slider low to Soto. Sinker low and outside. Soto starts then tries to check on a slider low, fouled off, 2-1 Sinker down and in, but Soto tops it foul, 2-2. Back to the slider here I'd think.

Gives him a big breaking sweeper, breaks about a foot outside, and Soto can't read it, chases for the K. First time I've seen Soto overmatched consistently by a pitch from any pitcher this year, but he can't see Sears' slider

Change low to Judge. Sinker inner 3rd waist high, Judge misses, fouls it off. 1-1 Back doors a slider to the low outside corner, 1-2 Just misses 2-3 inches outside with another back door slider, surprised Wendlestedt didn't give him the strike. Slider hangs just outside middle waist high, but Judge fouls it off. Had two good pitches to hit this at bat, missed both of them Slider way outside, 3-2 Humps up to 94 and blows it by Judge at the top of the zone That's NOT a chase, Ryan, it was at the top of the zone and would certainly have been called strike 3, anyway, 2 down.

Stanton... Slider down and in fouled off. Fb up and in, fouled off, 0-2 FB misses outside 2-3 inches, and again, surprised Wendlestadt didn't call that one, 1-2 Chases a change diving way low for the K.
Sears strikes out the side, INCLUDING BOTH SOTO AND JUDGE, on 16 pitches and is at 51 through 4. Top 4, 0-0 Yet ANOTHER game where the opposing starter is shutting this lineup down cold.
Gelof, Noda, Allen for the A's in the fifth.
Only good news is how fast this game is going, first four innings in right about 1 hour's time.

I'm not Jewish, so I'm not sure. But it might have something to do that today is the first day of Passover? Then again, it's also Earth Day so maybe they are having the game in the day to send a symbolic gesture and save energy instead of having the lights on for a night game? Just a reminder, these are both guesses.
Either way, the Yankees are the only team in the MLB having a day game today. Another guess...Maybe because NY has a large Jewish population and Passover starts at sunset? If I find out the reason for sure I will post it.

The name Sears sounds familiar? Well at least they got Montas and his 8 starts, 2-3 record and ERA over 6 in parts of two seasons for him...
