Geez. We’re just playing pepper with the pitcher at this point…

Slider for a strike to Cabrera Checks on the change outside and low, sinker hit back to McFarland, he flips to 1st, inning over. Easy 1-2-3 for McFarland on just 10 pitches.
16 in a row retired by the A's pitchers and no Yankee has reached base since Volpe soft roller down 3rd with 2 outs in the 2nd.

Top 8, 4-3 Yanks. Brown, Nevin and Gelof vs. Ferguson, at least so far.
Brown misses a sinker inside, 0-1

Take your 🧢 off and 🫡🇺🇸 Alexandria Nieves… I from an area with a comparatively large Hispanic community, as well as quite a few folks with Native American Heritage. Another block that is over-represented here, but to a lesser degree is the members of the Church of Latter Day Saints. What a bunch of nice people, all three. In fact I’ll quote Joe Rogan on the LFS folks. He said “They are without a doubt the kindest (censored) you’ll ever meet… I don’t go for that religion, but they certainly do believe in treating others well, and I champion that… I live in an area that has mostly Deer, Bear and squirrels!

FB misses outside and low a bit, chased, 0-2. Spikes the cutter away. He's pitching to avoid HRs, and you can't pitch well that way for long. Of course, he needs to get only Brown here. Sinker low, 2-2.

Don’t want to jinx Marinaccio, but he’s looked more like ‘22 version that ‘24 so far in his limited action… maybe he can re-earn set up status… His command is now decent where last year it was totally missing, but the FB has lost 2-3 mph. Not sure he can survive for long like that unless he can make good use of both his slider and his change. Decent point, but still a good separation between the fastball and the change…

Chases a cutter low near the corner away for the K. Ferguson gets the K, a handshake and a shower. Santana into the game to face Nevin and Gelof, unless the A's pinch hit with their backup catcher, which seems unlikely

Santana is on a day's rest; he's been pitching every other day this week. Nevin has never faced Santana. Neither has Gelof Nevin takes a sinker near middle, 0-1

It would be nice if our bats didn't go to sleep for innings at a time...

Swings over a cutter down the middle knee high, 0-2 Takes his timeout. FB up in the zone, and Nevin almost got it, high fly to deep left center, carries and carries to the track, but Judge tracks it down with Verdugo backing him up. 2 down.

Carried further than I thought off the bat. Gelof takes a slider low, then a sinker inside, 2-0 Fouls off a thigh high sinker, middle-out. 2-1 Cutter waist high away, hit hard to left center, Judge reads it well and makes a running backhanded catch fairly deep in the left center gap. Inning over. Not very impressive, but Santana got his two outs. Nevin's ball was 102 off the bat, had an XBA of .570 and was a HR in 2 out of 30 MLB parks. Gelof's has an XBA or .420 andf was 98 off the bat

Perfect. We’ve had elk within a couple miles of the house, so despite not having many trees (mostly sage brush) we know carnivores follow the food. Coyotes around often, bobcats, and probably some young cougars passing through while looking for their own territory. They tend to move back toward the mountains after a whole, but we have those within about twenty miles east and 30-35 miles west. Plenty of them, and wetlands are within 20 miles so besides local streams and ponds there is some water about. The mountains give us a high water table despite only 12-13” of rain per year. Even the Great Sand Dunes have a seasonal white water creek running through the park, south of the dunes…
