Trying to imagine what kind of mistake this buy can make with his slider that Stanton can hit, and I can't come up with anything
Slider stays inside, 3-2
Slider inside stays inside, and Stanton gets it up the handle, breaks his bat, and the soft liner floats to Schuemannon the short grass in left, inning over.
Top 9, 4-3 Yanks. Yanks didn't get a hit from the 3rd inning through the 8th, got 3 runners that inning, and multiple RISP fails against this guy's ridiculous slider.
Holmes coming on to try to close things out. He'll face Butler, Langeliers and Schumann. Has to be careful with the sinker down and in to Butler here.

See? I don't want a sinker down and in that this guy can just drop the bat on and put in the Porch.
Sinker misses a bit high, and called strike 3 anyway. Probably a bad call, but I take it and run to the >| bank with it, 1 down

Sinker thigh high in the middle, tapped toward short, Cabrera cuts in front of Volpe, fields and fires offline to the home plate side, and Rizzo has to do a nifty dance to glove, get his other foot down and avoid colliding with Langeliers. 2 down.

yankees win!! any win is a good win. what started out looking like a blowout, once again the offense went silent w 1 hit over the last 7 innings. as the a's chipped away, the game remained too tight for comfort. fortunately the bullpen held up w holmes closing it down w/o incident benefiting from generous calls. a decent start for stroman w 9 Ks. will call rizzo potg w stanton & bullpen honorable mention. some terrible ball & strike calling.
