Schuemann has never faced Holmes.
Slider misses 2-3 inches outside near the bottom, but Tumpane gives the A's a last "F-U-for-arguing-my-zone-all-night". Holmes gets another >| he didn't earn, but I take the $$$ and run away as fast as I can.
Yanks win, 4-3 to even the series and get back to 8 over at 16-8.

Caps got a goal from Goon Wilson with 8:15 left in the 3rd. There's 2:48 left now, and it's still 4-3. Caps should be pulling the goalie Lindgren...SOON.

We had one good inning with the bats. Good bullpen work and a serviceable start. The fielding was proficient. Holmes was strong. It was enough. We need to remind these A’s who they are the next two games…

yankees win!! any win is a good win. what started out looking like a blowout, once again the offense went silent w 1 hit over the last 7 innings. as the a's chipped away, the game remained too tight for comfort. fortunately the bullpen held up w holmes closing it down w/o incident benefiting from generous calls. a decent start for stroman w 9 Ks. will call rizzo potg w stanton & bullpen honorable mention. some terrible ball & strike calling. Plate umpire must have gotten tired in the mid innings. He seemed to lose the zone, and quite inconsistently after that… |

3rd star of the game: Collective work of Marinaccio, Santana, Ferguson and Holmes, inheriting a 1 run lead from Stroman and holding his W for him.
2nd star: Rizzo for the 2 run HR that gave the Yanks breathing room that they would turn out to need every inch off.
1st star: Judge for the 2-run double that gave them the lead in the 1st and the excellent defense in center tonight.
Caps pull the goalie, Rangers get it off a blocked shot after the faceoff, Vesey shoots for the empty net. and misses just wide for an icing.
Caps control the faceoff keep it in the zone, but Rangers gets it just over the line. Caps bring it back in for an offside.

have moved into a virtual tie for 1st for the moment pending the outcome of the O's/angels game. A's pitching looks to be much better than their record indicates.

Caps shoot it in, Rangers clear into the Caps end, 2:00 left
Caps shoot it in again, Rangers clear it down again for an icing with 1:41 left.

Sears and Blackburn have pitched much better than the rest of their rotation. Yanks SHOULD have more sucdess the next 2 days. Caps win the draw, keep it in the zone. Great save; Caps get the rebound and take it deeper Pass across knocked away by Shesterkin ou of the zone Caps shoot back in, keep it in 40 seconds left |
