Caps score quickly as right winger gets around the check at the blue line, a give and go sets up Strome right in front to put it by Shesterkin, game tied at 2.

Sinker is a meatball just below middle, but Noda fouls it. Stroman got away with one there. Backdoor slider misses just outside, but is close enough for Noda to chase for the K.

Quickly 2-0 on Rooker. Cutter misses outside 2-3 inches knee high, called a strike anyway, Stroman got a break on that one. Sinker inside, 3-1. Slider freezes him a bit, hits the outer third above the knees, 3-2 Sinker just outside middle lined to center, stays up for Judge, 2 down.

Brown... Sinker at the knees, 0-1 Splitter low, 1-1 Splitter low, swung over, 1-2 Sinker bounced, 2-2 Bad cutter letter high middle in, and Brown cracks a liner to right, but an at-em goees right to Soto, who catches it right where he's standing. (So are a lot of line drives...caught where the player is standing...but not all.
Inning over. Bottom 5, 4-3 Yanks 18 pitches for Stroman and 91 through 5. He may start the 6th, but might not finish.
Wells, Volpe and Soto for the Yanks in the 5th.

Wells... Slider outside, 1-0 Swings over a change to the knees, 1-1 Slider inside corner ties him up, fouled off, 1-2 Curve on the backdoor thigh high, Wells swings late but spoils. FB well high, Wells doesn't chase, 2-2 Tries to check on a sinker diving down and in, 3rd base ump rings him up, and yes, from the side view, that's a swing. K, 1 down.

Cutter outside corner, 0-1 on Volpe Sinker to the knees, Volpe fouls it off, 0-2. FB outside at the top of the zone, 1-2 Chases a terrible slider about 8-10 inches outside, pops it off the end of the bat to Butler in right for out #2.

Sinker misses well above the outside corner 1-0 Change low, 2-0 Backdoor slider catches the outer edge of the K zone, Soto doesn't get the Soto-call there, 2-1 Takes the cutter above the inside corner, 3-1 Blackburn changing pitches and locations every pitch. FB misses outside 2-3 inches at the knees, called strike 2 anyway. Trumpane missed that one. 0% on Gameday Slider starts in the zone, misses barely low, but Trumpane rings it up for the K.
In that at bat, the 1st strike was maybe 5% on Gameday, the 2nd strike missed clean, and the 3rd was, at best, a 1% strike at the bottom of the zone. You rarely see Soto treated like that with his K zone judgment.
Top 6, 4-3 Yanks. 16 pitches for Blackburn in the 5th, and 84 total.
Nevin, Gelof, Butler for the A's.

Blake going out to check on Stroman after Nevin singles to right on the 1st pitch. Yanks get someone warming.
