That was a cutter up and away not the FB, didn't see much cut and thought it was the sinker. Soto's 7th HR, 104 mph, 398 feet, 24º launch angle, a HR in 28 of 30 MLB parks
Judge works the count to 2-2, then swings under a FB at the top of the zone at 94, K. 2 down.

Rizzo takes a strike Cutter outside, 1-1 Splitter waist high outside corner, grounded toward the 34 hole, but Turang is a Gold Glove level fielder, rangers far to his left, scoops it up, wheels around and throws out Rizzo to end the inning. Bottom 1, Soto 1, Brewers 0. 13 pitches in the 1st for Rea.

One more thing about tonight's matchup: I haven't found any good way to check this, but tonight's matchup almost certainly is tied for major league record for the fewest letters in the last names of the two starting pitchers, with 6. I’d bet money on that.. Even though that female GM has a last name of Ng. I wonder if that was shortened from the popular/common Nguyen? …

First pitch FB inner 3rd, Frelick fouls it off, 0-1 Chases a 97 FB above the outside corner, 0-2 Chases a 97 FB a bit higher than the last over the outer half, misses, K, 1 down.

He had 2 nice games at bat and hoping he breaks out but the mental errors need to stop. Just can't have it. AND I'm still a huge Gleyber fan. He went 2 for 4, and made a very nice play in the 9th...right??? What's the problem??? Early game he was picked off first, and it was egregious. He started so early that it was laughable. I guess you’d say he took a gamble that didn’t pay out and it didn’t look good…

Contreras up, fouls off a slider out of the zone outside near the knees, 0-1 Misses a change above the inside corner by 2-3 inches, 0-2 Fb outside corner at 98, popped to short right, Soto comes in and over, calls everyone off, catches, 2 down.

Adames up... Back to back sliders both miss will low and outside, 2-0 Change hits the outer 3rd thigh high, 2-1 Swings over a slider in the zone low/away. 2-2 Gil using all 3 pitches early on. FB down the middle, Adames a bit late and under pops it foul just out of play down the right side. FB misses just outside below the waist, 3-2 FB waist high outside corner at 98, spoiled. Working a long count, preventing a fast inning. Slider misses just low and outside ball 4.
14 pitches now. No short inning for Gil now.

FB misses outside near the top, 1-0 Change clips the inside corner, 1-1 Throw over Poorly located slider hangs just above middle, but Hoskins is early bounces it foul off 3rd. Was supposed to be outside. Change in the middle up in the zone, Hosking hits a hard chop down 3rd, Cabrera makes the do-or-die try on the hard backhand hop, it goes off his mitt, scored an error, Adames to 2nd with 2 outs.
Gonna go over 20 pitches this inning now.

Beats him with a waist high FB inner half at 98, foul tipped into the mitt for the K. Inning over. Top 2, Soto 1, Brewers 0. 22 pitches in the first for Gil.
Torres, Verdugo, Cabrera in the 2nd for the Yanks.

Rangers still up 2-1, midway through the 2nd.
Sinker up and in to Torres on the first pitch, jams him, breaks the bat, soft grounder to Turang for the 1st out. Way to use some pitches after your rookie pitcher throws 22 in his half, Glayber.

Verdugo takes a FB for strike 1. Then a sinker down the middle for strike 2. Back leg slider, 1-2 FB near the top outer 3rd, spoiled. Slider down and in, Verdugo drops the bat on it and drives it out to right, solo HR makes it 2-0 Yanks!!
