Jays get two more in the 3rd including a solo HR from Jansen, and lead the Royals, 4-2 top 4 in Toronto.
Rays lead the Brewers 1-0 in the 3rd in Milwaukee
Grisham with a brilliant drag bunt, gets by Perez falling off to 3rd easily, and Westburg has no play. Bunt single.

You are not going to convince me thats as hard as he can go. He's made up his mind to go 75% regardless of the situation. He was freezing, even moving backwards thinking Westburg might catch the liner, so he had to change direction to start going, too much for him at this point. Slider low on the outer 3rd, 0-1 Knuckle curve to the bottom in the middle, 0-2 Flies open, missed way up away, 1-2 Rolls over on a curve low in the middle, grounds to Torres for out #1. It's not uncommon for baserunners to freeze on a linedrive in front of them, it is uncommon to then get thrown out at 2b. Sorry, Qwik IMO, he wasn't hustling. Close play, he could have beaten the throw with a little more effort. |

Volpe fouls off a bunt attempt, then puts a good move on a FB above and just outside middle, but fouls it off, 0-2
Volpe 0-1 vs. Perez, takes a FB up and away, 1-2
Again, the Yanks do the right thing and it doesn't pay off.
FB on his hands, he inside outs a hard grounder to Westburg's left, but he makes a great stab stop, wheels around gets the force, Volpe beats the relay easily.
Man on 1st 1 out for Soto

Slider low, 2-1 on Soto.
FB gets a tiny piece of the low outside corner at 97, Soto doesn't get the Soto-call, 2-2
FB down and in, belted down first, goes off Mountcastle right to Westburg, he throws out Soto as Volpe goes to 2nd with 2 down.
2 balls hit quite hard this inning. Volpe's was 94, Soto's was 99, and they bring in a righty for Judge.

With Kimbrel hurt, Yennier Cano is the notional closer, but the O's bring him in right here in the high leverage situation.
Cano pitching well again this year, not as well as early last yeer. 2.45 ERA in 14 games, 14 2/3 innings with 16 K.
Judge is 0-2 with 1 K and 2 BB
Gets a 1st pitch FB down the middle and just misses again, the fly to right dies in the corner, and Santander catches. Inning over. 330 ft, not close enough. Would've been a tie game if either of the two hard hit grounders had gotten through the right side.
