Well, looks like I missed the entire 2nd inning.
Gil gave up a walk but got a shutdown inning anyway on 15 pitches, 33 through 2.
And Verlander had a 1-2-3 2nd, but got a weird deflected catch on another deep drive to right, as Tucker deflects it to himself to end the inning.
10 pitch 1-2-3 for Verlander and 36 through 2.
Top 3, 3-1 Yanks.

Worse, it gets Alvarez a swing with a chance to tie the game.

Lafreniere got a goal about 11 minutes into the first, but Guentzel tied it for the Canes about 4 minutes later.

FB down the middle, but Alvarez missed it, fouled it off.
FB tailing outside near the top at 96 swing on and missed.
Humps up to 99, but flies open, misses well outside, 1-2
Throws over on Tucker.

Again flies open missing up and away with the FB, again, not chased, 2-2
Slider bounced over home, 3-2, and Tucker will go on the pitch.

Change low over home, and Gil almost had it, but he got a tip off the end of the bat to spoil.
Dangit.
Bad slider hangs right down the middle, and Alvarez is right on it, but the liner down 1st hooks just foul.
Barely missed a RBI double there.
FB inside at 97, fouled hard off his back knee, Alvarez hobbles a few steps, and goes to the ground to sit down.

I'd like to say it was time travel vapor lock, but I think I just forget to change it from the Skubal game preview. 2-2 on Altuve. Easy to do… but you’re pretty damned accurate so o had to rib you about it… wonder if the Tigers wish they would have kept him. They surely thought he was near the end… Yeah, he had struggled that season until the last start or two just before the trade, if I remember right. |
