Torres barely jammed a tiny bit on a 1st pitch FB near the corner inside, hits a deep fly to right, but Tucker runs it down a step from the wall.

McBride fouls Toppin on a 3 pt try with 0.3 seconds left in the 1st. Stupid.
He makes all 3 and it's tied at 36 after 1 at the Garden.
Alvarez nearly gets to a 1-2 slider out of the zone low/away, flies out to Judge in deep right center, 1 down.

Change way outside and up, he reaches across the whole zone, slaps it back up the middle, Rodon tries to glove it behind his back, knocks it down and away toward the 3rd base line, infield hit.
Too bad he knocked it down, because Torres was waiting right behind near 2nd and would've thrown out Pena I think.

Can't lose this guy, Carlos, you got a gift strike to start the AB.
FB above middle, topped to the right of the mound, Torres charges, fields then glove-flips and barely gets Singleton in time. Pena to 2nd, no play to be had there.

Takes a FB near middle, 1-1
Fouls off another just a few inches further away, 1-2

FB well outside and Bregman lunges at it, hits a soft liner off the end of the bat right to Torres for the 3rd out.

*rubbing eyes* Did Gleyber just make a nice defensive play?? Dangerous play, but probably the right one, as the glove flip barely beat Singleton, whereas if he tries to transfer and throw any bobble is a hit and he might fire it past Rizzo. |

Change down and in, lined to the corner in right, Wells sees Tucker get to it quickly, hustles into 2nd and makes a clever side to the mound side of 2nd, making Pena's tag too late. Leadoff double.

Quickly 3-0 on Cabrera, the FB thigh high near middle is taken, 3-1
Dubin a 5 pitch righty as well, throws a FB near 95 almost half the time. Also has change curve slider and cutter all throws between 10 and 20% of the time.
Fb way outside ball 4. 1st and 2nd, nobody out for Volpe.

Nice swing from Wells and a great slide to evade the nice play from Old Mother Tucker's boy in right field.
